Tapo L530E smart RGB bulb buzzing noise
Tapo L530E smart RGB bulb buzzing noise
I just received two packs of Tapo L530E smart bulbs. I have only opened one pack and tested the two bulbs. I'm quite pleased by this product but both of the bulbs I have tested make an audible buzzing noise that varies with brigthness and color. Specifically, the noise gets louder if I increase the brightness, and colors containing red make a louder buzz than other colors, although all colors buzz anyway. I wanted to use these bulbs in my music production studio, but with the buzzing noise they are not adequate because it is a completely silent room (the computer is in the server room nextdoor). I was wondering if this is something TP-Link could correct via a firmware update? Thanks!

@Mully_DE Hopefully you'll get some good ones. Use a dB meter app to identify the quietest out of the pack.

@RandyAndy Update and results below
Tests done with 2500k white. Peak level, 10s test, Umik measurement mic on a stand. Same distance (20 cm).
2x V2 Bulbs (Only saved one results, my bad, but identical result).
3x V3 Bulbs
V2 @ 100% significant noise 900hz with overtones at 1k and 1,1k
V3 @ 100% no additional noise except for minor imperceptible peak on only one of the bulbs @ 1,1k
Download REW and see the measurements here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16jtBS6h-SCtYE3x43GeZD19M2MRjMRpL?usp=share_link
My conclusion. V3 fixes a manufacturing error with V2. Replace all V2 for V3, test, rinse repeat till you're happy :)

@Mully_DE Thanks for the detailed tests. So did you buy all those bulbs at the same time, or the v2 ones first and then the v3 after some time? Are you in the EU (from your forum user name I had assumed you are in Germany). If so maybe I'm in luck, as a lot of imported stuff comes through Germany (I'm in Spain). I'm just trying to figure whether I'll receive v2s or v3s if I buy mor L530E bulbs now. Although your test sample is very small and we cannot be 100% sure they have fixed it, I want to believe that is the case. I might just pull the trigger and buy a couple more to see if they I get v3 bulbs.
Perhaps TP-Link/Tapo personnel could confirm the difference between v2 and v3? If the noise has officially been fixed, that would give me confidence to purchase (and recommend) this product.
