I've noticed that activating automation (leaving home, returning) relating to cameras seems to reset various functionality:

C210 - stops it tracking

C420 - resets active zones

Is there a plan to make devices retain settings when enabled/disabled through automation?

Hi,
If you refer to the Home mode or Away mode feature of the Tapo cam, please note that they are two different sets of Settings for motion detection. You can tap the button to quickly apply the preset settings to the camera when you are home or away, the preset settings including alarm and sensitivity will be applied to all the cameras, however, these two features are not available on the Automation page.
Here is the instruction to edit the Home and Away mode for the Tapo cam.

If you refer to the entries you configured on the Automation page and don't want the camera to reset the settings when the entries take effect, maybe you can delete the camera from the Automation entries or delete the Automation entries.

Best Regards

Thank  you for the link, I hadn't spotted that there was a separate home/away setting for cameras by themselves.

Does this mean that under the "smart" routine actions, the only way to use them without affecting the camera settings is to remove cameras from the actions and deal with them purely through the cameras tab?

Hello,
On the Tapo app>Smart tap, you can set up the Shortcut and Automation entry. The Shortcut lets you perform an action with a simple tap, and the Automation allows you to use Tapo smart devices or Time as a trigger to control other Tapo devices or run a shortcut/automation task. If the camera is included in the action part in the Shortcut or Automation entry, the trigger will control the camera to execute the settings you configured automatically.
Below is the introduction of the Smart Action feature on the Tapo devices.
How to create Smart Action (automation or a shortcut) of my Tapo devices?

Best Regards
