hs110 ridiculous energy usage stats
hs110 ridiculous energy usage stats
for the last week, 1 of my 3 hs110's (uk) has *ridiculous* inaccurate energy usage
a 2750w electric kettle running for 5 minutes is 0.65kwh according to tplink
last week this same usage and time was 0.09kwh
the socket is fine, with a good 238v live neutral and earth. the kettle is fine. my network is fine because the same kettle in another hs110 in the same is also fine
before i factory reset the hs110 with the bad stats... it said i used one *million* kwh in one single day. given my city was not on fire i decided that kasa was pure crap
apart from the server-side stored statistics - everything is fine. thoughts?

Hello@Ricky666 ,
Please check my private message and help collect the log file of the smart plug , thank you.
Later you could try to factory reset plug and see if energy stats become normal: How to reset TP-Link Kasa smart switch and plug?
For ' it said i used one *million* kwh in one single day.' do you still have a photo of it?

@Solla-topee i will look now for the message
no :-( i perform a 10 second reset already
for many months, i see good stats. 2780w for a few minutes would be 0.07kwh added to total. very good
1 month ago, a DIFFERENT hs110 i have on 24/7 for 168 hours each start to show that 30 days usage is 600 hours
of course, 24 x 30 is 720, not 600. i have a datalogger and it shows 720 hours
i experience many background crashes of kasa apk app on my phone during this month. current, and also 2 previous versions. 3 in total
now, the 24/7 is back to 720 hours, i have no crashes on kasa app, but now this new issue of bad power usage on another hs110
are you all in tp-link sure of the time and date for binding and timing purposes? as i press "post" here on the forum ir is 15:14 in the u.k

@Solla-topee sorry i can not launch your executable - i do not have a available windows pc
i send you the full mac address of the problem device
for reference and as i can not send a logfile, it is connected using dhcp option 61 wan with tplink vr2800 and is using ipv4 only and also the archer/vr will use google dns servers and also pass the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 *direct* to clients to avoid the problems tplink has with uk isp's transparent proxies. my lan has local dns caching off. apart from this, pretty regular. clients are all on primary ssid on 2.4ghz etc etc. all normal
i do not see why watts multiplied by time can be wrong
i connect test plug to socket direct. i see 238v, good live, good neutral, good earth with no bad current. no faults
i connect hs110 to socket, and connect test device to hs110.
current usage and total usage today remains at 0.00kwh
the test device itself has a oled screen and many lights. it uses around 7watts. i leave on for 1 hour but stats show 0.00 from today :-(

@Solla-topee here is most recent example
the hs110 is calculating 3250w all the time power is on. with nothing connected to it.
with nothing connected, after 1 hour, the hs110 will report 3.25kwh used.

@Ricky666 Hello,
Sorry for the delayed reply. Thanks so much for sharing all the detailed info, we could not delve further without the log, if factory reset does not help fix the issue, we would like to replace the unit first if it is still in the warranty. I will create a support email for you and provide the details, please check your inbox later. Thank you!

@Solla-topee i will return it to you. i tried to run the main.exe under wine emulator but with no success :-(
polling the hs110 says a emeter device 0x00000215 has 000000mv all the time, on or off, kettle or no kettle
my other working hs110 says the emeter device is 0x00000217 with 244610mv (244.6v) if the 215 / 217 matters?
i am am trying to do a "advanced r.m.a" but paypal says you are not accepting payment
what should i do?

@Solla-topee i have emailed the uk r.m.a about their paypal issue but no reply
i have more info:
i noticed in front of my kc120's my arm64 device did not get a push notification but my armv7 device was ok so i reinstall v 2 35 of kasa. still no pushes to my samsung s8 on pie no matter if the app is doze or active or anything. i install the september v2 34. push notifications now ok again. i also put v 2 34 on my armv7 if v2 35 is bust maybe
today i unplug my broken hs110, and give one last try, wait for the vr2800 to drop it and clear the table, plug back in
fixed :-/
did you fix the 0x00000215 emeter device on your servers or is v 2 35 of kasa really dangerous?

@Solla-topee nobody from the uk r.m.a email you gave has bothered to respond
to fix 0.00 current energy usage - use kasa v 2 34. 2 33 and 2 35 are broken
to fix 3kw kettle using 32 MEGAWATTS in 7 hours or 0.1 gigawatts a day - buy tuya instead because their servers are slightly less crap than tplinks
i will wait for the reply about the warranty 1 more day and then get my transaction to the retailer reversed and get my money back
