Kasa KP400 Outdoor Plug Overheat
Kasa KP400 Outdoor Plug Overheat
I've had my KP400 device for about 3 weeks, and it's worked great, until the last few days. It's installed outside, 3 feet above ground level, pointed down, as the directions indicate to do. Only thing it's powering is less than 300W of Christmas string lights. It's displaying an "overheat" condition on the device and shuts down. I've since brought it inside to try to trouble shoot. Factory reset multiple times, and it appears that it's dead. It goes to overheat immediatly, with no devices plugged in.
Anything I can to do fix the device, or is it dead?

@kscessnadriver I got the same issue. After spending two hours on chat with support, they tell me a rep will follow up. What a waste of time! Makes me question my investment in the Kasa infrastructure.

I am also having the same issue. The plug worked fine for several months and now says it's overheating, even with nothing plugged in and even after a factory reset.

Hello @Mzuravel
If Kasa Plug says Overheat or OPT (over temperature Protection) warning , you could try some suggestions mentioned in this FAQ:
What can I do if the Over Temperature Protection on my smart plug is triggered?
