Model: HS110
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.5.7

I notice a problem with the energy tracking for my HS110, which is connected to my pool pump. The device is tracking time just fine.

Today: 6.98 hrs

Past 7 days: Daily Average 7.03 hrs Total Runtime 49.2 hrs

Past 30 days: Daily Average 7.02 hrs Total Runtime 211 hrs

If you look at the energy though:

Today: 4.92 kWh (about right)

Past 7 days: Daily Average 304 kWh Total Consumption 2130 kWh

Past 30 days: Daily Average 74.6 kWh Total Consumption 2239 kWh

You'll note that total consumption for 7 days is 2130 kWh. That's 2.1 MEGA WATTS!!! I don't think so!

@Paolo59

Hi, you can check the power of your pool pump and it's running time and calculate the power consumption manually, then compare the two values.

Yeah, did those calcs and the HS110 is way off! My whole electricity bill for the entire house for the month is 600 kWh. The HS110 is indicating in the last 30 days it's consumed 2,200 kWh, three times my bill for the month and it's only a 700w motor! If it ran 24 hours a day for 30 days that would equal .7 * 24 * 30 = 504 kWh, no where near 2,200 kWh. The HS110 is clearly wrong but only the weekly calc and the 30 day calc. The daily figures look correct.

Looks like the total power values might be missing a decimal point, e.g. 30.4kWh vs 304.

@MikeP If I've done the maths correctly, it should be reading

Today - 4.92 kWh, 0.7kWh * 7 hours = 4.9 kWh which is correct

Daily Average for the past 7 days should read 4.9 kWh, reading is saying 311 kWh which is not even close and 31.1 is too low if you move the decimal point

Total Consumption for the past 7 days should be 34.3 kWh (4.9 * 7), reading is saying 2175 kWh which is not even close and moving the decimal place doesn't work

Daily Average for the past 30 days should read 4.9 kWh, reading is saying 76.2 kWh which is not even close

Total Consumption for the past 30 days should be 147 kWh (4.9 * 30), reading is saying 2285 kWh which is not even close and moving the decimal place doesn't work

I do notice that Daily average for 7 days (311 kWh) time 7 does equal 2177 kWh which is close to 2175 and the Daily average for 30 days 76.2 * 30 = 2286 which is very close to the 2285, so I assume the problem is with the 7 day average and the 30 day average.

I think what I may do is do a hard reset of the plug, set it up again and see what happens.

@Paolo59

Thanks for the info. You may try to restart the plug or factory reset it, the way to factory reset it is pressing the top button for 10 seconds.

If it is possible, try to connect another appliance to the plug to do the comparison test.

Good day.

@Xaser Hello,

Sorry for the late response. Thank you for the photo, the power consumption is quite beyond the normal range.

Please check my private message and install a debug tool and help collect the log of the smart plug, thank you

You could try some basic troubleshooting here:

1. factory reset plug : with plug powered on, press ' settings' (looks like a gear) for more than 5 secs ( skip this step if you have tried factory reset )

2. try a different wall socket

3. confirm  plug's firmware is  up to date  (kasa app -> settings-> firmware update) and also Kasa app is up to date

Thank you in advance.
