Model: Tapo C200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.4

Hi All,

I recently purchased a Tapo C200 Pan/Tilt Home Security WiFi Camera, and I can connect via ONVIF to the RTSP streams, as per the instructions available here:

https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/2680/

However, I have tried several different third-party surveillance software and I seem to be unable to control the camera's Pan/Tilt via ONVIF (the native Tapo App works fine).

Is PTZ control via ONVIF actually supported?

Thank you,

Dimitris

@Dimitris81

With firmware 1.1.11, PTZ controls for a C200 are working with BlueIris configured using Generic/ONVIF and a configured camera account

Same situation for me. I read It was onvif S profile compliant so it should be supported...

Hya!

The camera works fine with the app; but I tried to use this device under Blue Iris - but I can't make it work.

So I tried to check the stream on VLC - but it failed.

It is always asking for authentication.
I'm entered the c200 camera admin user/pwd into the VLC- but never accepted it.

I've tried the the link the FAQ offers (rtsp://tpoadmin:tpopasswd@192.168.0.2:554/stream1).

But doesn't helped.

The VLC continously asking for user/pwd - I've double checked, and surely typing the right duo.

Does have anyone a guess what to do?

@vadkan03

With regards to your issue, please follow the instructions in the link that I posted above. I think you might need to create a camera account (username and password) in the advanced settings of the Tapo app.

In either case, the discussion was about Pan-Tilt-Zoom functionality via ONVIF, and this question remains open.

@Dimitris81

I've made a camera account.

But every time I'm type in into VLC it is never accepted.

Thanks for the update.

By the way, is anyone from TP-Link actually monitoring these forums? Saying that their project supports ONVIF and hosting posts of customers that had to move to other products because it actually doesn't, isn't really the greatest marketing strategy..

@Kevin_Z  seems to know a lot. What about ONVIF PTZ control of this camera apart from the Tapo App?

I tried a few different 3:rd party SW's and they all tell the same; PTZ not supported but the video streaming is ok.

I bought one as a test but will return it to store and go for other brand as I need several cameras to be integrated in our system.

@Dimitris81

Hello, sorry for the late reply. This camera supports the third-party software, but it does not support PTZ, we already noted it and will keep a watchful eye on similar feedback.

Good day.

@Stella.Q Looks like you should update the support document at https://www.tapo.com/en/faq/70/ or whoever is responible for the text in it!
