Model: KC110
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 2.2.29
Hello friends, I have a Kasa KC110 camera and since today the live streaming includes both audio and video (it was previously only video). I want to avoid streaming audio and I have tried turning off the "Listen for Sound" setting under Privacy and Sensitivity using the Kasa Smart android app. This does not solve the problem. Does anyone have a solution ? Thanks in advance.

@Bob1 @IP-Tiger

I got your point. The sound will be pick up when you view the live broadcasting; you can turn off the volume on your smart phone itself to avoid the noise.

And we have noted that and will forward to our product engineer to evaluate the feasibility to add the option to turn off sound..

Good day.

@Bob1

What do you mean this does not solve the problem?

Theoretically, once you change the Privacy and Sensitivity to Record Video Only, no audio will be recorded.

You can provide more specific symptoms so that we can do further analysis.

Thanks for your reply.

The problem is not with the recording of audio (I am able to successfully turn off the audio recording by selecting the option you refer to) but with live streaming i.e. if I view the live video being broadcasted by the camera then it also picks up any background sound/audio. My covern is that if there was an unauthorised intrusion into the webcam then it would provide the actor real-time listening into conversations taking place in the room.

Hope this clarifies.

@Bob1

I've the same problem with a KC120 - squeezy noise in live modus. I believe it is since there was the automatic firmware update to 2.2.23, because I haven't notified this sound before.

The Kasa smart app already has an option to disable "Listen for Sound" under the Privacy and Sensitivity menu option, so it would seem this feature is not working in the app. A solution by the product engineer would be appreciated as the option to turn off audio capture during real time viewing/streaming addresses the privacy concern whereas reducing the volume on the device only quietens the sound output from your device. Kind regards

Yes I am having the same exact problem. Please engineers issue a fix for this so we can disable live sound without having to mute the phone sound! It would be much appreciated! Otherwise everything is great.

I am also wanting a fix for this please.  Very annoying to have to mute the phone when I never want to hear audio from my camera.

@Kevin_Z

I am having the same issue on my KC105 Spot Camera. All audio recording/monitoring is turned OFF but when I simply want to view the live feed, any sounds I make I hear them and the feedback echo through my phone (a significant 1-1.5 second delay as well).  Turning the volume down is not a solution!

I do not want to hear audio ever.  But the more important problem is the fact that the camera mic is defaulting to ON (probably at all times?) therefore this is a MAJOR PRIVACY concern.  I have no idea now- is the mic live all the time? Do I only hear it when the software connects to my phone's audio path but in reality it's just always live/recording sound?

Just bought this KC105 and considering returning it for another brand because of this.  I see this issue has been active for a year and not fixed.  Not good.

@kluza

Hello,

Sorry that switching the camera audio off feature is still not available yet. You would think it would be simple and straight forward but it's not. This would require retooling the camera Live View display as well as the Kasa app, which is used for all Kasa products and requires a lot. To be honest, you are not the first person to ask for such a feature but again it has been added to the features requests for our developers.

Hope you could understand and accept. But if you are not, please contact your reseller to return it.

Good day.
