Firmware Version:

After about 5 years, 3 HS200 switches I had installed at the same time, the wifi functionality has died. The switch can still operate power, but it will no longer conenct to my local network even though it did fine for 5 years. Went throughll all the reset steps, and tried both wifi and bluetooth setup with no success. Now it looks like I have to replace them just because of this issue.

The step that fails is close to the end.

  • I can successfully reset and hear the click.
  • I can connect to the switch's wifi to link to my phone.
  • I can then choose model and get to selecting a local network, but despite using this network for 5 years, it no longer can see it.
  • I tried manually connecting several times, but it cannot see/link to my wifi.
  • I have 34 other deviced connected to a dual band 5GHz/2.4GHz network, INCLUDING a set of Kasa strip lights in my recroom, which the app had no issues with. Only the switches fail.
  • I tried rested the router completely. Did not help.

Can these switches really be this terrible quality to burn their wifi capability after 5 years? Seems way too early.

Make sure your Kasa app is updated, you may delete and reinstall the app. Try to do the setup with another phone or tablet.

Are other wifi networks available in the list, or is it only yours that is missing? Try to enable a hotspot wifi with another phone, check if the app can see it.

Yes I deleted the app and re-tried twice. Also "forgot" network on the switches multiple times. It is only my network that is missing. I restarted my router. That did not work. I reset my router to factory settings. That didn't work.

I tried isolating my 2.4GHz signal to directly connect. Didn't work.

I used both an Android and an iOS device to try. In iOS I used both an iPhone 15 and an iPad Pro (2023 model).

It seems the switches to me DO have the ability to connect to wifi. I don't think the switches are "dead" in this area. They can also function to turn on/off lights.

The other myseterios thing - I have a set of Kasa strip lights with the Kasa app that has no problem with and is working 100% fine. I can see my netowrk registring the strip lights. Only the switches don't.

I have seen other posts on the web of others having the same issue. Not alot, but they're there.

I think the main problem is overcoming the ability for the HS200's to SEE the network. Something is blocking this and don't know why.
