C510W Terrible Audio

I am assisting family members in setting up a C510W camera outdoors. Initially, the setup was fine and the camera performed exactly as expected. At some point (perhaps a month after initial installation), the audio became extremely poor. There is loud crackling and it is impossible to make out speech at times. Further, the recordings saved to the sd card only save audio for the first 9 minutes, the rest of the recording does not have audio.
I have ensured the latest firmware (1.1.2) is installed, I have done a factory reset, adjusted all settings to attempt to fix it. Nothing has helped. Eventually, we bought another unit and installed it. The exact same issue occurred on a brand new unit. I even tried an alternative mains power supply to rule out power-line interference.
We now have 2 cameras that have unusable audio. Both are well within their warranty window. Please assist.
