Model: Tapo D225
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I’ve been using a D225 doorbell for a week, along with two other Tapo cameras that have also been running smoothly during this time. However, a few hours ago, the D225 went offline. Despite trying various troubleshooting steps—rebooting, resetting, and attempting to reconnect through the Tapo app—it fails to complete the final pairing process. It goes past the connecting to wifi screen and then fails on "pairing yout Tapo device...".

Eventually, the doorbell speaks an error message stating it cannot connect to Wi-Fi.

The firmware was up to date and set to auto update.

To rule out signal issues, I’ve uninstalled the doorbell from the wall and placed it well within range. The Wi-Fi network and password are correct, as they are saved in the app and successfully used by the other two cameras. I even tested it on a different network, but the result was the same, "Pairing Failed" with a blinking red LED.

I’ve also uninstalled the iOS app, rebooted my ios device, reinstalled the app, and tried reconnecting again. Additionally, I rebooted my router, but none of these steps have resolved the issue.

What else can I try?

  @Wayne-TP I figured it out. Somehow my router was not letting go of the DHCP lease for it. Once I manually released it, it worked again.

Thanks

  @Random7

What router do you use? Does it have a separate 2.4GHz WiFi?

Make sure the WiFi password is correct. Do NOT use auto-fill, please manually enter the password yourself. Here is a way to verify the wifi password: delete the saved wifi network on your phone, then reconnect to the wifi by manually entering the password. The used password is incorrect if you cannot reconnect the phone to the wifi. How to remove existing wireless network profile on Android&iPhone

Create a hotspot wifi with another phone and connect the doorbell to it, see if it works. About the other network you have tested, is it from another router? Or is it a guest wifi from the main router?
