Model: Tapo C410 KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.24

Hi support,

My C410 camara is constantly detecting motion/cars way outside of the selected zone.

I tried reducing sesitivity, it is at 5 now.

I tried making the zone smaller to avoid light changes when a car drives by at night.

It happens at day and night.

It happened with Firmware 1.0.23 and it is the same since yesterday with firmware 1.0.24.

I get too many notifications.

How can this be solved?

Happy to share videos of this.

Regards,

Richard

  @Wayne-TP

Just to note that with latest firmware updates this seems to be solved or mitigated for me.

Do you have parked cars inside the detection zone? Are the detection events type "car"? Use the "tag on" option to confirm (see in recordings) what specific objects are triggering the notifications.

Hi  @Jabteles ,

Yes! Often a car is parked in the detection zone. Is that a problem? I expected a car to be detected and a notification sent when a car moves in the detection zone.

Is this being triggered because of a movement outside the zone and my car inside the zone??? Strange.

What do you suggest?

Reduce the detection zone to exclude my car?

Disable the car detection but leave all others on?

Thanks,

Richard

@RE_ I guess this is a bug.. I was also receiving alerts and recordings for cars PARKED on my parking spot, not moving at all. My mitigation was to disable car detection and only enable movement detection. Of course that if you have other movements besides from car movement those will also be alerted and recorded, in my case this is not an issue that's why it works as a mitigation for me. But this bug must be looked into by Tapo

What type of detection was triggered? Do the detection zones for motion detection and vehicle detection overlap?

If the motion detection zone includes the vehicle detection zone, when a car enters, it will trigger motion detection, then trigger vehicle detection when it enters the smaller vehicle detection zone.

Hi  @Wayne-TP , thanks for your reply.

The type of detection that gets triggered when I have car detection enabled is "car", but way outside of the zone.

That not only happens in the night and when the light cars get in the zone, but also during the day without car ligths or car shadows getting in the zone.

Now I have disabled the car detection, leaving only motion, person and pet detection.

There is only one zone and this seems to work fine.

It sometimes gets still triggered from outside the zone when bigger cars iluminate into the detection zone during the night, but that does not happen that often.

Enabling car detection for me is a no go. Cars get detected in the whole camera view and not only in the defined zone. Also if its only one zone for all.

Thanks,

Richard

Thanks  @Jabteles , your proposal worked fine! Disabling car detection at all helps a lot.

Still wondering why car detection triggers with cars completely out of the zone.

Thanks again, Richard

Can you try to lower the car detection sensitivity, perhaps 2 or 3, or even 1, check if that makes any difference?

If the problem still exists, further analysis is required.
