Streaming and Saved Video Resolution

Can we add an option in Tapo app to set streaming resolution decoupled from the saving video resolution?
For example, I want to set the streaming resolution to 720 and at the same time if the video is being saved I want the quality to be 2k.
(Something like rtsp stream2 for example)

Hi,
For the Tapo C510W V1, the resolution of the video recording stored on the inserted SD card is fixed at 2K, and you can change the streaming resolution on the Tapo app > camera's Device Settings > Video & Display > Video Quality page.
If you want the new options to be able to set the resolution of video recording and streaming independently, please start a new thread here for feature requests.

I'm sorry but this is not correct, when I reduce the resolution to 720 for example, then I try to download the video I see the video saved in 720 not 4k (when I had the resolution set to 4k the saved video was 4k)

Hi,
Please double-check the model number of your camera. Is it Tapo C510W or another model number? The Tapo C510W has a maximum 2K resolution rather than 4K.

Yes C510W V1, and yes 2k not 4k (typo in message, yet the rest is true)

Hi,
Where did you download the video recordings?
Do you download the video recordings from the SD card inserted into the camera? Or do you stream the camera through RTSP/Onvif connection and download the video from the third-party app?

Hello,
I have an SD card installed yes, I use the Tapo app, and I download from the app.
What happens is the following:
I set the "Video Quality" to 2k, when I download a video the results have "2304x1296" resolution.
When I change the Video Quality to 720p the results have "1280x720" resolution.
What I am asking for is to separate controlling the streaming quality and the recording quality.
Since I have a bad wifi I want the streaming to be fast when I open the app, yet the recording quality I want to set it to the max.

Hi,
Do you record a video on the camera's Live View page, download it from the Tapo app to your phone, and then check its resolution? If so, this video's resolution is the same as the resolution you set on the Device Settings > Video & Display > Video Quality page.
We tested and confirmed that the video recordings stored on the SD card recorded at 2K resolution no matter what Video Quality is selected for the Tapo C510W V2. Maybe you can double-confirm the resolution of the video recordings stored on the SD card.
