I have a few outdoor cameras and via an automation set them to detect people at night, and then set my hub to alarm plus notification.

From my most recent purchase, 2x c520ws, I have had multiple false positives where a spider or moth has caused the alarm to trigger. This is impacting my sleep.

I have sprayed insect killer around the camera to prevent spiders making a home but I really don't like killing things unnecessarily  so this is not ideal. Despite this I am still getting false positives from passing insects, cats etc

i can leave them on privacy mode but this defeats the objective of having them.

Any ideas?

  @NzDavidT

Hi,
1. Please check if the suggestions in the following instructions are helpful.
How to reduce motion detections from rain, snow or insects,etc

2. If the problem remains, please confirm the following information.
  1) Send us a picture of the camera's Device Settings > Detection page. Check the sensitivity value of the enabled detection types.
  2) Can you send us a video showing the reported issue?
  3) Please send me the MAC address of your Tapo C520WS via a private message.

You can upload the video and picture to your cloud server(such as Google Drive), generate a link to download them, and send me(@Solla-topee) the link via a private message.

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

Thanks for the response.

my settings:
-Personsetection is enabled with high sensitivity, and I am unable to turn off basic motion detection as I want to use motion tracking. However generic motion detection is low-mid sensitivity.

- I am unable to reduce zones of the camera given this is a Pan and tilt camera.

- I have the camera on smart mode so PIR will be used until there is something detected.
- I have also reduced spotlight time and switched off the led status to reduce interest from insects and animals.

I'll get the information you requested.

Hi,
Thank you for your cooperation and I'll wait for the video showing the reported issue.

(btw, the Tapo C520WS does not have a PIR sensor, when the camera selects smart mode, the IR light will turn on when nothing is detected.)

Best Regards
