Model: Tapo D230S1
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.1.19

D230 doorbell takes so long to "wake up" the person at the door has left by the time it can be answered.
It has full WiFi  signal with high bandwidth  connected to a Tap link Deco mesh network given high priority always.
How can I make wake-up time shorter?

Try to adjust the wake-up sensitivity: doorbell Device Settings > Detection > Wake-up sensitivity.

What's the viewing angle of the doorbell? Is it facing the direction where people usually walk directly towards it?

The doorbell may be hard to wake up in this case. You may try to adjust the installation angle of the doorbell, pointing it in the direction where people typically enter the camera's view from the side.

  @Wayne-TP

thanks for your reply

i think perhaps I didn't make my problem clear.
the device doesn't have any problems detecting people, the "wake up time I'm referring to is the length of time the App takes to connect to the device after detection or door bell button is pressed. I have the App installed on iPhone XS, also a long delay if I try to see live on the doorbell camera from the App - "wake-up" of the camera from App viewing.

How long does it take to receive the notification or ring call in your case? The live stream loading mainly depends on the phone's network condition. You can make a test to see how long does it take when you're on the local wifi network.

  @Wayne-TP thanks for your reply.

The iPhone XS is on the same Deco mesh network with full wifi signal, connection time is variable 1 - 15 seconds when there is no other obvious internet connection using bandwidth. Not sure if I mentioned before but I have 2 doorbells/hubs both on the Deco mesh network, would this affect live response time?

I have just checked response time

Doorbell 1 - 3 seconds

Doorbell 2 - 3 seconds

Doorbell 1 - 10 seconds

Doorbell 2 - 8 seconds

Doorbell 1 - 1 second

Doorbell 2 - 1 second

These tests were performed straight after each other with no delay between attempts, giving variable results it doesn't make any sense!

The phone generally connects to the wifi using 5gHz but the doorbells use 2.4 gHz so I changed the Deco to only use 2.4 to force the phone onto that frequency but this made no difference to the live connection time.

  @Wayne-TP

the notification and/or ring is more or less immediate, it is only the connection back to the doorbell either live or as a response to a notification/ring that takes the time.

I also have the Tapo App installed on another iPhone and an iPad, the issues are the same on these devices as well
