Hey there.

I've been Googling for a while, but I can't find any answers to my question. Basically, I'd like to have something set up so that whenever I'm arriving home, the door sensor stops working for a few minutes, so I can get home without having to manually disable the sensor every time. I'm fairly new to this whole thing, and so far my ideas have been:

1) Use Samsung's routines to turn off the Tapo Hub when I automatically connect to my wifi network. The issue is I stay connected to it all the time, so the routine never turns the hub back on.

2) I made a shortcut through the Tapo app to turn off the automation that disables the door sensor for a few minutes. The issue is, I can't figure out how to run the shortcut automatically :D

3) Set up some bluetooth next to the entrance with very short range (like 1 meter), so whenever I automatically connect to it, the automation is disabled for a few minutes. The issue is, I have no idea how to reduce the bluetooth's range, and according to Google there's no proper way.

Admittedly, not even five minutes ago I found out you can set Geofencing's location to "Passive", so who knows, maybe my location will still be accurate enough and the battery drain won't be an issue at all. And also assuming it works with different phones at the same time, since I don't live by myself. Regardless, all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

  @Regnum

I'll say the choices are limited if you're seeking solutions outside the Tapo system, especially since part of the settings is Tapo automation, which can't be synced to third-party platforms.

Complex multi-user scenarios cannot be achieved through the current geofencing feature, for example, run the automation only when both users come/leave home. However, there is a potential workaround solution shared by @Rbuck , you can take a look and see if that works for you. Re:Automation settings in Tapo-app

  @Wayne-TP Thanks for your answer!

I've been testing our automation for a few days, and so far so good. I only want it to disable the door sensor for a few minutes after either my friend's phone or mine has arrived into the geofenced zone, so I assume that's probably why we've been having no issues, since we're not after any scenarios like "if we both are home, disable the alarm". I'll keep an eye to see how it keeps running, and will post again if I encounter any issues, in case anyone can find it useful.

Thanks again!
