Tapo smart doorbell owner using a smart hub (like H100/H200) as the doorbell chime

 

 

Description

When you try to adjust the settings for the Tapo smart hub serving as the Tapo doorbell chime, such as the ringtone, ring duration, or volume level, you may find the changes don't work, the smart hub continues using the original ring settings when Tapo doorbell is pressed.  

 

It is important to note that the settings on the smart hub's device page do NOT apply to the doorbell chime. 

 

To change the hub settings when it works as a Tapo doorbell chime, follow the path below:

1. Open Tapo app, go to DOORBELL liveview page

2. Enter doorbell Device Settings page

3. Click Doorbell, then choose Paired Chimes

4. Select a hub. 

5. Toggle 'Ring Connected Hub' to decide whether you want this hub to ring when the doorbell is pressed.

When 'Ring Connected Hub' is enabled, click 'Ringtones & Volume' and 'Duration' to customize your settings.

 

 

Special Cases [Solved]

  • Paired Chime page doesn't find H200
  • App won't find H200 when adding a new chime

  @Wayne-TP 

 

the hub does not show as a paired chime. If you try to add it it doesn't find it.

  @Wayne-TP options don't appear. Also toggling the ring connected hub doesn't save when leaving and returning

Same issue, using an ios app i see the stupid dog, using android i have this useless toggle button

  @Wayne-TP also having this same issue, device plays different different sounds and continuously even if the device ring time is set to 5secs or 1sec. Are you able to help

Did you make the changes through smart hub's device page, or through doorbell settings? Review this article carefully and double-check your settings.

I have the same problem. Doorbell is ringing forever. Settings in the app for adjusting the Ringtone and the duration have no effect. I already tried to reinstall the hub and Doorbell - without any effort. I do also use the apple app. 
The problem startet about 2 weeks ago - before everything worked as it should

  @Wayne-TP I hadn't changed any settings, it seems to have happened since the most recent software update

I'm having the same problem, has only happened since the last firmware update of the doorbell. I updated the firmware for the hub yesterday, and rebooted it, but still the same issue. Different chime than the one specified in the app, and instead of 2 second duration, it plays indefinitely.
