Tapo C320WS: pet detection

Hi,
I recently moved from a C320WS V1 Hardware to a C325WB. The main use is to protect my home from intruders but I also wanted the ability to get notified when pets pass by.
I want to be notified when my cat is back from his walk so I can open him the door. Additionally, I want to monitor stray cats wandering in the neighborhood, this has proven to be very helpful as one of the stray cat turned out to be a cat which went missing 3 month ago in a village 15km away.
However, for the purpose of security monitoring the C325 just s*ck.... The lack of IR makes it useless at night. Part of my backyard gets light from the street lamp and part is in the dark. The camera misses all detection in the dark part: movement or pet. HDR does not help. Before you ask, no I do not want to turn the projector on as this would reveal the camera to intruders.
This is why I bought a C320WS V2 only to discover that it lacks the pet detection.... Is pet detection something that will be added to the C320WS? I am currently contemplating getting rid of all my 4 Tapo Cameras and replace them with Reolink which all have pet detection....

Hi,
Currently, the Tapo C320WS does not support Pet Detection. I'll log the feature request and forward it to the related team for evaluation, but I don't have any specific details that I can share about whether this feature can come to the product or when it might.
From your description, it seems the Tapo C320WS and Tapo C325WB can't meet your usage scenario, and we have the Tapo C520WS that may suit you. If you just purchased the Tapo C325WB, you can contact your retailer to check if you can return the camera and buy a new one.

@Max2950
A quick feedback after using the C510 for a while for my puprose.
Thanks to IR I can now monitor the darker areas of my backyard.
I moved the C325 to a place with low light but without darker spots. There it is performing quite well. The C325is not suitable for place which are unevenly lit.
The Amazon listing where I bought the C320 from where it was mentioned it is pet capable has been removed since.

Thank you for your reply. I bought the C325 as a used one, however the C320 was bought new from Amazon (official Tapo Store) where it is listed as animal capable. I will check the C520....

@Solla-topee Hello,
I recently installed a Tapo C320WS V2 in the backyard to watch the back of the house for persons and cats. I am really impressed by the picture quality of this camera, and the AI Person detection works very well.
The only thing missing is the AI Pet detection that exists on other Tapo cameras. Currently I have to use motion detection to detect cats but it's not reliable, as expected it is triggered by anything moving within the detection zones, including a lot of insects at night (I have set up detection zones to only look at the ground to reduce false positive).
It would be really nice if you could add pet detection. The Tapo C520WS has the same sensor and probably the same on-device machine learning chip as the C320WS V2 so it shouldn't be very complicated to add.
And may I ask if it is possible to follow the progress of this feature request ?
Best regards

@Solla-topee +1 for this, I'd also be really interested in having pet-detection in the C320WS! Would be a game changer!!

Hi,
If you want a Tapo camera that supports the Pet Detection feature, it's suggested to go to our official website > camera's Specification page to find out if the model you are interested in supports the Pet Detection before purchasing it. For example, on the Tapo C320WS's specifications page, you can see it does not support the Pet Detection feature.
You can start a new thread here to request the new feature on our product, and it's recommended to describe your feature request and usage scenario in detail for evaluation.
