What's also strange that onthe first day I already wanted to add the C520WS to home and away modes. Now it went fluently, but ealier I was prompted to add this camera as new device, as it was not in the list of the available devices.

Hello, it has destroyed the internet connection again, for the third time. This is my fifth day playing with the camera, I'm completely dissatisfied, lost my patience.

It goes back to the retailer, sorry.

Hi,
1. If you have factory reset the camera, the camera will disappear from the Home/Away mode. If you want to use the Home/Away mode to edit your camera settings, it's required to add the camera to the Home/Away mode again after you set up the camera.

2. Usually, the camera won't affect the router's internet connection, and it's hard to locate your issue with the current information. I respect your decision if you don't want to troubleshoot anymore, and please feel free to reply if you need further assistance.

Best Regards

Hi there,

Finally the camera has been replaced, no signs of the previous issues. Testing inside for three days already, today suddenly it lost the wifi connection, but recovered relatively fast. Let's hope for the best.

Might be on off-topic question, but I have not found the best forum to address my question. I'm living in a family house which is facing a road with heavy traffic and lots of pedestrians. Which Tapo outdoor models would you recommend to install?

Thanks in advance

Hi,
It's suggested to provide more detailed requirements for the camera so we can recommend a suitable camera. For example, what functions do you need, under what circumstances do you want to be notified, do you want to save detection video clips or continuous recordings, save videos to an SD card or cloud server, how do you want to power the camera, and so on.
Best Regards

Hi,

My objective is to defer anybody whoever wants to intrude in my property, and also to record that person.

Notification is not a priority for me.

Both continuous recording and 24/7 detection recording are ok for me.

SD card for storage is fine with me.

It can be powered by battery or by 220V adapter.

I hope it's more clear now, thanks in advance

Hi,
Based on the information you provide, I recommend our outdoor camera that is powered by a power adapter. You can refer to the link to select a camera you are interested in to purchase.
Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

Thanks a lot, I'm looking at the recommended devices.

However, the replaced C520WS has generated the same issue, so I'm at step 1 again :-(.

I noticed that when it cuts the router and I'm setting it up again, no WAN Connection Type is selected, although it should be set as PPoE. This means the router setting is forgotten for some reason. This happens only when this type of camera is connected to the wifi network, never ever happened before.

Should I set select the static IP address if I save the recordings on an SD card and use it via the Tapo app only? I've found a thread which says no.

Any ideas please?

  @Sutike

Hi,
Typically, set static IP address on the camera has nothing to do with if you save recordings on an SD card or control the camera via the Tapo app. You can decide whether to enable the static IP address option or not according to your usage scenario.

I have escalated your case to our tech team, and they will contact you via email to further assist you. Please wait patiently.

Best Regards

  @Sutike

Hi there,

Thank you very much for forwarding my case to your engineer, who contacted me in a very short time.

He helped me to identify the root cause (it was actually my old router), which has been upgraded to a Deco M4 previously. So far so good, I hope it solves the issue.

Anyway, the first camera run into issues quite frequently, so replacing it also helped.

Thank you
