Model: Tapo P100   Tapo P110
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.1, 1.5.5

Hello TP-Link Team,

As a software developer working with smart home automation, I would like to request a small but impactful enhancement for the Tapo P100 and P110 smart plugs.

Requested Features:

  1. Auto-Off Timer: Currently, the auto-off timer only allows hours and minutes. Adding seconds would provide finer control, which is particularly useful for time-sensitive applications.
  2. Schedule Function: Similarly, when creating schedules, the ability to set actions down to the second would allow for more precise automation.

Feasibility:

Since hours and minutes are already implemented, extending this functionality to include seconds should be a relatively straightforward update. It would significantly improve the flexibility of Tapo smart plugs for automation-focused users.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this! Thanks for continuously improving the Tapo ecosystem.

Best regards,
Tzvetan

Please provide some specific examples of devices or situations where precise control down to the second would be required.

Dear TP-Link Team,

Thank you for your response and for considering my feature request. I appreciate the opportunity to provide additional context regarding the need for second-level precision in the Auto-Off Timer and Schedule functions.

While I personally require this feature for one of the use cases in my personal projects, I wanted to highlight several other practical use cases to demonstrate its broader applicability:

  1. ESPHome/Tasmota Integrations – Advanced users integrating Tapo plugs with custom automation platforms may need precise synchronization with sensors and other smart devices.
  2. Network Equipment Restarts – Certain routers, modems, or servers require a short power cycle (e.g., 3–5 seconds) to trigger a proper reboot without a full shutdown.
  3. Appliance Safety – Devices like soldering irons or heat guns could benefit from precise auto-off timing to prevent overheating or fire hazards.
  4. Pump & Valve Control – Aquarium pumps, irrigation systems, and hydroponic setups often need second-level precision for dosing water, nutrients, or managing air circulation.
  5. Security & Alarm Systems – Timed activation of sirens, strobe lights, or relays could enhance security automation without unnecessary delays.
  6. Home Theater Automation – Sequential power-up of AV equipment (e.g., turning on an amplifier a few seconds after the TV) can prevent power surges and improve synchronization.
  7. Short Test Cycles in Labs – In electronics testing and industrial applications, brief power bursts may be necessary for evaluating device performance.

While my personal need is specific to my project, I believe adding second-level precision would enhance the flexibility of Tapo smart plugs for a wide range of automation scenarios. Given that the current system already supports hours and minutes, extending this functionality should be a relatively small but impactful update.

I appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Best regards,
Tzvetan
