C120 V1 - Firmware 1.2.3 - Causing problems
C120 V1 - Firmware 1.2.3 - Causing problems

Ive just submitted a ticket to Support (After months of hassle!)
C120 Firmware update 1.2.3 is causing huge network instability, my Decos disconnect, my other Tapo devices disconnect.
After noticing the issues after my most recent device C120 and the firmware update to 1.2.3. I removed it , returned it to Amazon. and bought another with R1.2.1.
Worked perfectly and I bought another.
So I was up to 2 C120's on R1.2.1. working fine for last month, and like a fool I thought I'd try R1.2.3 again and now back to stupid issues, tapo devices dropping , Deco devices dropping , pictures below disconnected devices and app telling me about network instability.
I now have my network back by having shut down these two C120's .
I need firmware downgrade file and instructions. or TPLink need to take this firmware issue seriously and fix it. See below the Irony that the Deco Security services see the C120 as an intrusion security risk to block.... Come on TPLINK fix this firmware its wrecked many days of my time and its clearly a problem. I have two cameras I wont connect to my network until I see a fix or downgrade and I'd prefer a downgrade at this time.. please help and instructions. 1.2.1 was a good version.

To me this is a clear indication that TP Link know there is some compatibility issue because they had to do this FW upgrade, it made things a little better but I still returned it to get the older FW replacements. On this occasion after these C120s were updated I had a period where all my DECOS were offline except the main one, yet all were greenlight and had devices connected and working. reboot of network had to be done.
Can tplink please offer some feedback as I'm buying a replacement camera hoping its on the earlier FW version to test and prove this again. but we need FW downgrade tools.

Hi,
1. We do not have the link to download the camera's firmware and do not have instructions to downgrade the camera's firmware. However, we will help you in this matter.
2. Please confirm the following information for the reported issue.
1) Please describe your network diagram in detail. For example, how the Deco units connect to each other, which Deco the camera connects to, etc.
2) How often does the disconnect issue occur?
3) What's the LED status on the camera and Deco when the issue occurs?
Best Regards

Hi,
Firstly fyi I'm an IT consultant for enough years to be familiar with punched cards through to networks firewalls firmware vpn tunnels and most technologies so please consider I have some knowledge and plenty of experience.
1. attached are images that show that I have a large deco mesh network .
which deco it connects to is irrelevant and not something I can specify or isolate as it's a mesh network that any device can connect to any node.
that is the point of a mesh network.
frequency is constant and intermittent with no pattern to advise other than its regular, it effects the camera it effects the other devices and it effects my deco nodes
this firmware is flooding my network!
2. The other image shows I have received and connected a new c120 with 1.1.15 firmware.
And you see the two others offline!
network is completely stable camera is working fine devices working fine ring devices stable and deco network stable. and I won't update this firmware and auto update is firmly disabled!
3.appreciate you may not have the knowledge to help with firmware downgrade but I can do it.
Yes you do have firmware it's available here
https://download.tplinkcloud.com/firmware
I have already downloaded instructions and an older version
id appreciate it if you can give me the link to a 1.2.1 version and I'll try to fix my cameras myself.
many thanks

Hi
guide is here credit to original poster
but in summary
you need a small SD card 16-32gb
needs to be in fat32 format
get your version firmware and rename it factory_up_boot.bin on the root of the sd card
pin reset your camera
turn it off and install the sd card
turn it on and Red led will turn to green flashing for about a minute but give it 2-3 to be certain when it goes solid green update is finished so remove the sd card before restarting.
