Model: Tapo C200
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.3.16

Why has the c200 got alot worse after the new update 1.3.16? For example can no longer acces the shortcuts to browse motion events and the picture quality can only be set to LQ or HQ instead of the more traditional 720p,1080p and so on.

Do anyone else get frustrated by this and is there a way do "downgrade" and install the previous firmware instead?

Hi,
If you are referring to the feature to see the detection video clips thumbnail under the camera's Playback & Download > Playback > SD card > Timeline section, the Tapo C200 V1 & V2 have never supported this feature, it's not a feature disappeared after Tapo C200 updates the firmware.
Best Regards

Hi,
It's unable to downgrade the firmware of the camera, however, we will record your feedback about the new firmware and forward it to the relevant team for evaluation.

What do you mean by "acces the shortcuts to browse motion events"? Would you please describe the detailed usage scenario? Thanks!

Best Regards

Thanks for your response. What I mean by "access the shortcuts to browse motion events" is that before the update, i could jump to specific timestamps of detected events without having to scroll through the entire timeline manually. This was a very useful feature for quickly reviewing important moments.

I've also noticed that this functionality is now locked behind the premium tapo care subscription. I find really not okay to remove such a crucial feature and  suddenly make it a paid option when it was previously available for free all this time. This feels like a downgrade rather than an upgrade.

Are you able to clarify why this change was made? Can we expect these features to be restored for all users in a future update?

I also get notifications pretty much all the time forcing  me update my other tapo models which would only make them worse...

Best regards,

John

Hey mate. I haven't had any issues with tbe 3.1.16 fw but noticed your comment on downgrading firmware. It ABSOLUTELY can be done and its surprisingly easy. Just need an sd card formatted correctly and firmware. Both those are pretty readily available. Get in touch if you need a hand.

I must say though, I never expected this cheap c200 to last this long! It won't blooming die! Coming up to 10 years now.

Great job TP-Link!

Also mate, forgot to mention, you can disable auto updating camera firmware in the tapo app!
