Model: Tapo H200   Tapo T110
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hey, I have now bought a hub and window sensors. Tplink doesn't seem to have really thought the system through yet. When I leave the house, the alarm system is automatically armed via Smart Action and automatically deactivated when I come home. (Geofencing) So far so good.

Now someone comes into my home who has a key but doesn't have the Tplink app or a smartphone with them. How should this person deactivate the alarm system? There are no pin or fingerprint-protected devices. There is also no remote control or anything similar that can be attached to the key ring. A switch would be possible, but a burglar could also press the button directly.

Is there anything I am overlooking that would be useful to realise? The DL110 door lock is not available in Germany

Edit: The alarm is also triggered automatically as soon as the contact on the door is activated. It should be possible to install a delay so that if there is a button in the flat, you have time to press it

Yours sincerely,

Robin

Hi  @Spider1996

Sorry for the long post but hopefully this might be of use.

The default automations are very basic, however the automation features allow you to create the functionality you need.

Here is a simple automation flow that you can create:
First : place a simple S200B button in a discreet place which you can use to enable/disable the alarm
Create the following automations:
Automation #1 - "Alarm on automation" :
     - "When"  the S200B button is single pressed or I leave Home

     - "Then"
         - sound an alert sound from your control hub/speaker for 1 minute
(The above is an optional action to let you know you have 1 minute to leave the house before alarm is alarmed when using the button)
         - "Delay" 1 minute
         - enable Automation #2 - "Alarm active automation"

Automation #2 - "Alarm active automation" :
     - "When" the respective sensors are triggered
     -  "Then"
         - sound an alert sound from your control hub/speaker for 30 seconds (to let you/others that the alarm is active and needs to be disabled)
         - delay 30 secs (to allow time for the button to be bressed)
         - sound alarm from control hub to alert intruder the alarm is triggered (which should hopefully scare them off)
         - send a notification to your phone so you know the alarm is triggered

Automation #3 - "Alarm off automation" :
     - "When" the S200B button is double pressed or I arrive Home
     - "Then"
       - disable Automation #2 - Alarm active automation (this will stop atumation 2 from executing)
       - silence the control hub

This is a very simplified version of what I have built for myself... some points of note:

Single press to turn on alarm and double press to turn it off. Obviously you change these to suit.
- Automation #1 and #3 should always be enabled, Automation #2 will only be enabled when the alarm is "alarmed" via the automation.
- if you want to control from your phone via shortcut as well, then the actions in Automations #1 & #3 can be added to short cuts which are then included in the automation so can then also be run from your phone via shortcuts or automation (or even from Google Home or Alexa). Let me know if this is not clear.

Lastly @Wayne-TP  it would be good to have a dedicated page or thread category for automation examples/tips... I would be happy to share the full suite in more detail as well as other tips and I'm sure others would like to contribute.

Thanks for the answer. I have extended my automation so that a delay is included. I had somehow overlooked solving it this way. Of course it would be nice if tplink would bring out a kind of keypad, as a button is always relatively unsafe...

Thank you for your sharing! You can choose to share your automation setup either by:

1. Posting within the corresponding product block (Forum). An official tag 'Automation Tricks" is available.

2. Alternatively, you can publish a story article, which allows for simultaneous posting across up to 3 product forum blocks. However, story posts require uploading a cover image and will undergo manual review before publication. If you choose to publish a story, feel free to follow up with me privately after posting to confirm the details.

Please note that adding a delay action within the automation action will NOT be able to cancel or abort the rest actions once the automation is activated. Any actions placed after the delay action will still execute normally once the delay countdown completes.
