Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: Up to date

Hi everyone,

I have two tapo C425s and two A200 solar panels. Unfortunately I realised my solar panel is charging the camera everyday and keeps its battery all the time at %100..!
You might think it is a good thing but definitely not. Although, there is no engineers that recommends this behaviour. Keeping the lipo batteries always %100 , stresses the battery and battery's life will be decreased dramatically.

Honestly, I was expecting from tapo's engineers charging cycle option to extend battery life.. for example keeping the battery between a range %60 - %80  or something selected by the user. Why do we kill our batteries life ? I can not understand this. I am expecting an update about this asap please..

Regards,

When the camera is connected to a solar panel, the solar panel can not only charge the battery but also supply power to the camera directly. This is no continuous charging as the camera has battery protection.

When the sunlight is strong, the solar panel can generate enough power to directly run the camera, without draining the battery or consuming little. And if the camera is triggered infrequently at night, you will notice the battery level can be maintained at 100% for an extended period.

Hi,

this is also another scenario that the battery is not running low and stays always at %100 state for a while.. when battery gets %99 in cloudy day, solar panel charges it again and again.. so always stays at %100.. Lipo batteries needs to have drain and charge cycle rather than keeping them always at %100.
Charging it fully, to 100%, stresses the battery. If you always charge to 100%, the battery will show some degradation after some 400 or 500 charge-discharge cycles. Its capacity will be reduced, and you will probably want to replace it with a new one.. you tp-link guys all know this technical thing, why you do not add a feature for this case , can't a firmware update and a software update solve this ? User perhaps can chose a charging cycle when "solar charging data" on on the app
