Model: Tapo T100
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.12.0 Build 230512

My Tapo T100 motion sensor doesn't recognise movement of driveway automatic sliding gate.

I want to make an automatic scene where lights turn on when I open the sliding gate to my driveway.

I positioned T100 in couple of locations pointed to sliding gate and in all of them sensor registers every motion except sliding gate.

Any suggestions?

  @markosamarzija

The T100 uses a PIR sensor, which can only detect movement when there are significant changes in infrared radiation, for example, the heat changes when people or pets move.

  @markosamarzija Perhaps putting something on the gate that will have a different heat signature than the gate material.  If the gate is black for example, try something light colored.  If light colored try something black.  Maybe a mirror or even a bicycle reflector would work.  If the gate is not a solid materal such as a wrought iron for example,  hanging a sign or something might work.

  @LuisCarvalho Thanx for the suggestion. Unfortunately this option will not work for me since the gap between driveway gate (sliding gate) and the wall is too big, and I'm afraid that T110 is not waterproof so it might not work outside.
However, I found a solution that @DumbAu wrote works best. I placed reflective stickers (for bicycle) on driveway gate and T100 is recognizing the movement when gate opens and closes.
Thanks for your input nevertheless.
