Hey!
The issue describes below is similar to the one described in https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/679798, I just wanted not to hijack the original thread as I'm using a different camera.
The issue also exists on Tapo C110 v2, firmware v1.4.3:
- Camera static IP set to OFF (i.e camera configured to get its IP via DHCP) with static IP reservation configured on the DHCP server
- Camera picks the address served by the DHCP server. A dynamic DNS entry is automatically updated by the DHCP server based on the address served. Camera can be accessed (ONVIF) via its DNS name.
- After a while:
- Camera reverts to Static IP address ON,
- DHCP lease is not renewed,
- DNS entry expires,
- Camera can NOT be accessed (ONVIF) via its DNS name anymore
Questions to TP-Link support:
- Is there any recent firmware that would address the issue?
- Static DNS registration can be a workaround, but this is not how things are supposed to work
- I expect the Static IP configuration of the camera to be kept to OFF, and the camera to renew its DHCP lease periodically.
- Let me know if you prefer to continue the conversation in https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/679798
Thanks!
