Monday
Model: Tapo C110
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.4.3

Hey!

The issue describes below is similar to the one described in https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/679798, I just wanted not to hijack the original thread as I'm using a different camera.

The issue also exists on Tapo C110 v2, firmware v1.4.3:

  • Camera static IP set to OFF (i.e camera configured to get its IP via DHCP) with static IP reservation configured on the DHCP server
  • Camera picks the address served by the DHCP server. A dynamic DNS entry is automatically updated by the DHCP server based on the address served. Camera can be accessed (ONVIF) via its DNS name.
  • After a while:
    •   Camera reverts to Static IP address ON,
    •   DHCP lease is not renewed,
    •   DNS entry expires,
    •   Camera can NOT be accessed (ONVIF) via its DNS name anymore

Questions to TP-Link support:

  1. Is there any recent firmware that would address the issue?
  2. Static DNS registration can be a workaround, but this is not how things are supposed to work
  3. I expect the Static IP configuration of the camera to be kept to OFF, and the camera to renew its DHCP lease periodically.
  4. Let me know if you prefer to continue the conversation in https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/679798

Thanks!

Hi,
1. When the Static IP option is disabled, have you set up a port forwarding entry on the router for the camera, so you can stream the camera remotely via Onvif with the DDNS domain name and port number 2020?
If so, what's the IP address of the camera assigned by the router?

2. When the Static IP option is enabled, what IP address is on the Static IP page?

Best Regards

 Hi  @Solla-topee

Thank you for your quick follow-up.

Here are my responses to your questions:

1. When the Static IP option is disabled, have you set up a port forwarding entry on the router for the camera, so you can stream the camera remotely via Onvif with the DDNS domain name and port number 2020?

=> This is an internal network with internal DHCP (Unifi) and DNS (Synology). Camera is accessed from within the internal network by a Homeassistant ONVIF integration which is configured with the DDNS name and port number 2020 of the camera. Same as you described, but with no port forwarding as I don't need it.

If so, what's the IP address of the camera assigned by the router?

=> 192.168.100.87

2. When the Static IP option is enabled, what IP address is on the Static IP page?

=> Same: 192.168.100.87

Thanks!
