Firmware Version: 1.2.17

Hello

I've had an incident where the camera (C420) starts briefly recording people loitering at the back of my house late at night and then cuts off just after 5 seconds. I have a Record Buffer of 10 seconds so it should've recorded at least 10 seconds theoretically speaking (actually with the recording of the people / motion, the clip should've been 15 seconds). The people in question came around in the corner and obviously saw the camera, which is why they hastily left but the recording got abruptly cut off (just when they were about to leave the view point of the camera) so I could not see more.

This has happened a few times (Where said recording gets cut off abruptly, less than the Record Buffer time) and usually only happens at night / when it's dark. I have another C420 connected to the same H200 hub. I have also changed the SD card of the H200 hub to use Sandisk's High Endurance MicroSD card (128GB) so I do not think it's a SD card issue.

Both cameras also have full signal (3 bars) to the hub, and the hub itself is connected via Ethernet to the local network at home.

I also reboot the hub daily. (Auto Reboot)

Is this a known issue? I checked my daylight recordings, and they seem to respect the 10 second Record Buffer rule.

Was the person still within the camera's view when the recording stopped? What was their direction of movement? Were they crossing the entire frame, or moving directly towards the camera, such as walking from a distance closer to it, or moving away from the camera?

Do both cameras have the same problem? You may try swapping them to see if the problem follows a specific device.

Thanks for the response. Both guys were definitely still within the frame / camera's view (With their backs to the camera, as they were leaving) when the recording stopped at 5 seconds. My expectation is that I should have seen them leave the scene completely with the 10 second buffer but it's not the case. They were walking towards the camera and made a quick U-Turn (all within 5 seconds). I can send you the clip via Personal Message for a review if you want.

I am pretty sure they left hastily as I have another Tapo TC82 pointed from the other angle / corner from the C420 but the TC82 didn't trigger / record anything as they came and left quick. Had they not spot the C420 and loiter I am sure that the TC82 would have caught them as well.

I am also not sure if this particular C420's entirely at fault as generally speaking it behaves the way I intended it to be, it is just that on this ocassion it's not done it and it so happens that I had people who I do not want coming around which triggered it (Hence video of interest). Usually it captures passing vehicles, foxes or cats which does not really bother me. I am sure every now and then I have seen this abruptly cut off behaviour with other clips in the past as well (And always, at night / when it's dark) but I never bothered as they were just passing vehicles.

Perhaps it's an issue with connectivity to the H200 hub at that particular point in time which causes the recording to be cut short? I'm not 100% sure how these cameras work.
