Unsure where I went wrong. Here is the single pole switch I am trying to replace. It powers my outdoor patio light and nothing else as far as I know. I bought a Kasa HS200 and it seemed simple enough. Picture attached is how my current single pole switch operates and it works as expected to turn the light on and off.

When I attach my HS200, I wirecap one black line to the top single wire, then I wirecap the second black line to the bundle of two black wires.

White neutral line capped to the neutrals, and the green ground line capped to the exposed copper.

Logically it should've been easy but when I flip the breaker back on, the patio light is permanently on. Clicking the switch does not shut it off despite the little LED light changing states.

Did I get a bad switch or did I mess up something? Any advice would be great!

Here is the HS200 connected. Lights are stuck on.

Try to install this switch in another location to see if the same problem occurs.

Do you hear the click sounds when switching the smart switch?
