Hello all

I love your light bulbs and the use we can make of it.

BUT

I've got a big suggestion, can you limit the time in which three on/off's are needed to reset or re-initialise the bulbs

Yesterday and today passed 4 hours to re-install all the light bulbs because of the bad weather that cut of the electricity several times in 24 hours with the consequence that all bulbs where in the installation mode and were ofline .

If you limit the three "on and off's" for reinitialising ,in a total limit of 3 minutes, it would help a lot of people to avoid this really anoying problem.

I do not think there is a limit at themoment because some bulbs worked yesterday but at the cut offv this morning they were aff line.

Thanks for your interest in this problem solution

Have a nice end years holidays

Nicolas

When a smart device appears offline in the app, it may be due to issues with device's cloud connectivity, WiFi disconnection, or App's network connection. This phenomenon does not necessarily mean that the device has been reset.

If it is a WiFi disconnection issue, you can figure it out by checking the router client list, verifying whether the smart bulb is still in the connected client list.

For a cloud disconnection issue, the smart bulb is still connected to the WiFi at this state, except it cannot be controlled remotely. In other words, if the phone connects to the same local wifi as the smart bulb, you can still see the light bulb online in the Tapo app and control it.

Here are some troubleshooting suggestions for different device control failure issues, take a look if you encounter similar problems. Cannot use the Tapo app to control my smart devices

Are you suggesting that the reset operation can be modified to allow three off/on actions within three minutes? Wouldn't this make it easier to reset the bulb compared to the current method?

To soft reset a Tapo smart bulb, we need to turn it off and on three times, a total six switches, and the whole process takes less than 30s. Personally, I think this type of operation is not that easy, quite challenging for a non-tech-savvy. And such frequent power outages are rare as well.

no I ´am not suggestion but proposing that your company limits the delay within the three on/off's, so that a lot of intemperate resets will be avoided.

What you are describing here still seems to be what I guessed before. Wouldn't fewer on/off times make the device easier to reset?

  @Wayne-TP

I'm not proposing that there should be less on/off's .

If you read the first message, I propose that you limit the period of doing on/off's (to re-initialise) within a time laps of 2/3 minutes.

I do not know how many minutes or hours the delay is now but it seems very long.

Thanks in advance

Nicolas

The bulb reset requires a series of consecutive actions within a short timeframe, and the entire process usually takes no more than 30 seconds. A typical power outage, even if it happens multiple times in a day, will not cause the device to reset, unless it's an extreme case of rapid on-and-off cycling for several seconds.

  @Wayne-TP thanks Wayne

that's what I thought also.
but we had three outages one day ( last at 16:00) and one at 8:00 in the morning next day.
The first day I had to reinstall 18 of the 34 bulbs  and all worked fine in the evening.
The next morning one outage only and  14 bulbs had to be re- installed.
that's why I thought that the time lapse was much longer then 30 seconds.
Have a nice day
