  @Alf-63  Really appreciate you posting this.

I will now make the update and report myself in due course.

  @AABBCC_CCBBAA

So, I have loaded the latest firmware 1.3.3.

This is still not good.

After movement ceases the camera stays fixed on the last position while recording for 30 seconds. Then the camera returns to its home position (while still recording).

So events are still being missed as the camera is now looking at the home position and not where the last movement ceased.

THESE TIMES NEED TO BE CONFIGURABLE.

1. CONFIGURE THE LENGTH OF RECORDING TIME AFTER THE LAST MOVEMENT HAS BEEN DETECTED.

2. CONFIGURE THE LENGTH OF TIME BEFORE

THE CAMERA RETURNS TO ITS HOME POSITION

AJ

  @AABBCC_CCBBAA Thanks for the update. My camera is on static. I didn't try it on roam.Hope TP can sort it out.

  @Alf-63 Thanks for replying.  I have installed the update and for me, it has fixed the issue.  I'm no longer getting 4 or more silly little recordings and missed events.

There is still no configurable recording time option which seems a sensible addition and I don't believe it would be hard to implement but for some reason Tapo don't seem keen on the idea.

  @JS400

I have been following a similar issue on https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/781520 and have only just found this post.

I would like to add my vote in favour of configurable length of recording time after event detection ceases.

My 3 x TC41 cameras are fixed and the previous firmware 240927, which introduced short recording times, was perfect for me.

It was extremely annoying when firmware 250228 went back to long recording times.

Saving on storage space, review time and downloading time are the important issues for me.

This debate has been raging for some time now and there are obviously different valid opinions.

It seems that the only way to resolve this issue is to let each user select their preferred extra recording time.

Needed urgently for all cameras (including TC41) Alternatively, allow 2 versions of the firmware - one with 10 secs and one with 60 secs extra recording time.

  @Old_Guy I couldn't agree more with your post. To alter firmware to change the length of recording time to try to satisfy those who want shorter recording times and, those who want those times longer, makes no sense at all.

All this "compromise" does is satisfy neither of these two groups.

It's time the Techs at TP-Link spent a few hours coding and allowed configurable times for all users...problem solved.

  @AABBCC_CCBBAA

You are right....The  "two versions of firmware alternative"  was a desperation suggestion since, in my case, long clips continue to be a serious waste of resources.

I would also be happy if I could simply go back to the previous firmware.

However, configurable recording time is definitely the best way to go.
