Tapo app (iOS) starts playing a motion clip at the end of the recording

Model: KC110
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I currently have a Kasa KC115 camera, which is working great. I'm planning on adding a few more cameras, but the KC115 appears no longer available, at least not here, so I'm looking at Tapo cameras.

I downloaded the Tapo app to my iPhone and could integrate my old Kasa camera, however it seems that the app for some reason starts playing motion detection clips at the end of the clip instead of at the start so I'll have to manually scrub to the start of the trigger in order to see what happened.

The Kasa app creates clips that starts just before the trigger and ends a bit after the motion stops. Playing them stops when the clip is played fully.

The Tapo app appears to create clips, but it seems to be just a thumbnail with the trigger shown, but when playing the clip the playback starts after the trigger and appears to runs continuosuly instead of stopping a bit after the motion stops. After 5 minutes of not doing anything the app shows a warning that I've been looking at the live stream for 5 minutes without doing anything.

Is this a known problem?

Is this only related to Kasa cameras in the Tapo app?

Hi,
Please confirm the following information for the reported issue.

1. Please ensure your Tapo app is up to date.
2. Go to the Tapo app > KC115's Live View page, is the date & time displayed on the camera's page correct?
3. Would you please send us a video showing the reported issue?

4. Are you watching the cloud video clips or the video clips stored on the inserted SD card?

Regarding the 5-minute limitation for live streaming, you can refer to the instructions below.
Why can't I view the live stream of the Tapo camera continuously?

Best Regards

1. The app is the latest, as is the FW in the KC115 and the iOS version.

2. No time is shown for the KC115 live view, as it is for the C220 I just bought

3. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/pm76pveysf8c5kq0pa9j6/ScreenRecording_12-17-2024-12-47-33_1.mov?rlkey=pguvsw4o8rllf3bh6wiv55nhz&st=3lcxl863&dl=0

The clip shows me clicking on the thumbnail twice, in an attempt at showing the event. I then scrub back a bit and I'm then able to see the event.

4. I'm watching the clips on the card as I have no TapoCare subscription yet.

I have an event that is shown to have happened at 10:50:06 yesterday when I scrub to the event, but the playback starts at 10:50:10 when I press on the thumb nail.

Hi,
Do you have the same issue when watching the Tapo C220's video clips on the Tapo app?
Best Regards

No, the Tapo C220 clips seems to work ok, but they are stored in the cloud.
