Too many false notifications (motion and person detection) with C310P2
Hi
I setup the camera yesterda at my driveway and I get too many falst motion/person detection notifications. I set the detection region, but for no reason it's detecting someone and giving the notificacations. I set the sensitivity level to 5. I don't have cloud upload option enabled yet so don't have a video, but it's giving me some notification in almost every 30 mins. Any suggestions?
Also, I noticed it doesn't have the option to select/turn off vehicle/pet detection.
Thanks

Hi,
1. The Tapo C310 V1 does not support vehicle and pet detection, so you can't find them on the Tapo app > Camera's Device Settings > Detection page.
2. Have you inserted an SD card into the camera to store video recordings?
3. The problem is related to the camera settings and the actual actions that triggered the notifications, please help confirm:
1) Send us a picture of the camera's Device Settings > Detection page.
2) Send us the pictures of the enabled detection types.
3) Please help to record the event manually on the camera's live view page, which shows the event shouldn't trigger a notification.

Hi
Please find the attached snapshot with false motion detection. There is no motion in the camera view (though I marked a smaller area too), and it just detected rain drops as motion. Also, the rain is very very light but it shows very big droplets in the camera. I have now turned off the motion detection.
Is there a way to share the video with you as a proof that false motion detection is triggered?
Is there a way to make camera not detect rain as motion?
Why rain drops are so hugein the live view, those are just very small droplets in real. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks
Thanks

Hi,
The raindrops are huge on the camera's live view page maybe because it's very close to the camera's lens.
The basic camera's detection mechanism is based on image changes between different frames. The frame is one of the many still images which compose the complete moving picture. If there is a difference between the frames, the camera will recognize it as a motion detected. When it rains, the raindrops will cause a significant change in the image, therefore this kind of detection cannot be avoided.
You can refer to the instructions below to reduce motion detections from rain.
How to reduce motion detections from rain, snow or insects, etc
Btw, you can upload the video to your cloud server(such as Google Drive), generate a link to download it, and send the link to me via a private message.

Thank you for the information. It seems the motion detection is not a useful feature and should be permanent disabled for outdoor use. I wish there is an option to select activity region for person detection also, but looks like it's the whole camera view. Also, human detection line crossing can be a useful one too (it triggers false alarm if cat crosses the line too). Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Hi,
1. For the feature request to add an activity zone for the Person Detection feature, I'll log it and forward it to the relevant team to evaluate.
2. The Line Crossing Detection feature works for the person and object crossing the line, not only for the person. It's normal to receive a notification when a cat crosses the line.
