Model: Tapo T300
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.75 Build 2306528 Ref. 194828

When I pull up the T300 in the Tapo App, it has an alert icon with "Local Only" icon after it. Not sure what this means exactly as I have not yet found an explanation of exactly what that means.  Battery icon appears to show full.  Other T300s in the house do not have the local only alert.  I went into settings but I cannot see anything there to change the local only setting.  While in settings, I also noticed that the location is no longer set and it will not let me change it nor will it let me change the Device Name -- there is no arrow pointing to the right as the other T300s have when I go into settings. Note that I can change the alarm volume from the app or at least the app appears to be changing the volume.

What does "local only" mean and how do I correct it and set the location back to what I initially set it to.

EDIT to add:  I decided to reset the device so I removed the batteries to do that.  Still didn't help so I reset the device and removed it from the Tapo app and tried to re-add it but all I keep getting is: connection failed.  I can see the hub blinking blue while the T300 green light blinks but it failed each time I tried.  Note that before and after resetting, a single press of the button on the T300 causes the H100 hub to chime so I know that both devices can communicate with each other somehow.

Move the sensor closer to the hub to do the pairing again. If the sensor's LED looks dark or dim, the battery may be low. Replace the battery and try again.

Use the Sync button to pair the sensor to hub directly:

  • Press and hold the Sync button on the sensor for 5s, its LED should start blinking.
  • Press the Sync button on the hub for 1s, its LED starts blinking blue.

And just in case, please check the nation code (e.g. EU/US/UK.) of this T300 and the Tapo hub on the product label. Are they the same version?

I've tried all of those things and it is definitely a US version.. It initially paired just fine when I first got it a couple of weeks ago. The other T300s are working normally. When I press the button on the leak sensor, the hub chimes so it can obviously communicate with the hub. Note that I deleted the sensor from the Tapo app when I initially posted my question but it now shows up again in the app, even though it would not let me add it back. It still shows "local only" when I select this leak sensor in the app. The app does show an event triggered when I bridge the contacts with wet finger as long as I am connected to my home wifi but when I am not on my home wifi, no alert shows up in the app. So I suppose that the problem that needs to be fixed is the "Local Only" status? What does this mean and how do I fix it?

EDIT to add:  The device still shows on my iphone but not in the app on my ipad which is where I deleted it from.  How do I get the phone and tablet back in sync?  Should I delete it from the iphone too?  Seems like deleting it from one location should remove it from everywhere?

I was finally able to get it re-added in the app but it is still showing "Local Only" so that is the only issue remaining.

Try to restart the Tapo hub, see if that helps.

What's the device Mac address of this T300 sensor? Please send it to me through private message.

  @Wayne-TP  private message sent.

I restarted the Hub by unplugging it for a bit and plugging it back in with no change in the T300's status.  .
