Huge issues with TAPO C520WS!

Firstly, the camera is acting so weird when connected to LAN (ethernet). It worked perfectly well when i initially setup the camera, until the app suggested that the camera can also connect to WiFi (which i understood to mean it could use both platforms, simultaneously), so I went ahead and configured it (thinking it would use this as a backup or select "the best" connection), and now it simply refuses to connect via ethernet, and will only allow the camera to be configured using WiFi, which I don't want.

I have tried rebooting and resetting the device numerous times, but when I do a reset, and leave the camera connected via ethernet, the LED status light flashes in a series of all 3 colors (red, green and amber), sporadically, which isn't even mentioned in the "manual". I then have to remove the ethernet cable, restart the camera by removing the power cord, and set it up using WiFi, which I absolutely do not want, given the number of wireless devices I already have connected to my ASUS router (RT-AX92U), and also in the knowledge that a LAN connection is always more stable than a WiFi one. Well, that was until now, anyway.

Then I come to the second issue, which is a bit of a follow on from the first, and that is trying to get tp-link support for this camera.

To get support, you need to register the device on their site (I have 17 different devices, none of which are currently registered; guess I'm in for a long night) using the serial number and proof of purchase, which is where the issue lies.

[Time to go grab a drink before I continue...]

The camera I have is a replacement for a previous one which was missing its screws. This means the invoice shows a value of £0.00. Will this matter? If not, then I shall put that forward under my account. If it does matter, what do I do as the previous invoice, which will show the correct purchase price, will be a mismatch for the serial number. Both cameras, incidentally, were purchased from amazon.co.uk, during their Black Friday event.

Finally, and this may be an app issue rather than with the camera itself, and that is using Smart Action automation.

I've set my camera to a specific setting for its "home" location and, when it finishes detecting movement (a person, a vehicle, a pet, whatever), the camera will return to this "home" location such that it can start its detection process again.

But the only way I have been able to do this, so far, is to add a delay post detection and then move the camera back using a shortcut, created for the "home" location, once the delay has expired.

But here comes the dilemma. How can I make this work if the camera detects further movement, and start auto tracking again, prior to this delay expiring? If the camera detects movement and starts auto tracking again, it will follow the object until such time the previous delay expires, and then return to the set "home" location. This may be only a second or two into the most recent/current auto tracking's event, which is not really any good; there needs to be an "unless" or "break" event which will restart the detection timer.

That, of course, is unless someone else knows better?

Anyway, there are other issues I have but I know they are more app related, so I shall put those in a different post, under the relevant category.

Thanks for reading, and I hope this is understandable.

Chris Please excuse misspellings and anything that may not make sense or cause offence as the medication I take can have an adverse effect on my mind.

Hi,
1. Generally, if your camera is configured Wi-Fi connection successfully, once the camera is connected to an internet cable, the wired connection will work. In your case, please help confirm:
1) Describe your network diagram in detail. Is the camera connected to the router by a cable directly when wiring?
2) Please connect the ethernet cable that you want to connect to the camera to a laptop, and check if the laptop is working. If so, check the IP address on it, and send us the IP address on your camera and laptop.

2. If you want to contact our technical support, please refer to the link here.
The replaced device's warranty period depends on the date & time of the original device you purchased.

3. Typically, if you have enabled the Auto/Motion Tracking feature, the camera will return to the position where you enabled the Auto/Motion Tracking feature if there is no motion detected after 30 seconds.
In your situation, how about Pan & Tilt the camera to the position you want and then enable the Auto/Motion Tracking feature?

Best Regards
