Hi. I've used Kasa app widgets on my Android phone to link to single devices or scenes. However, I'm trying to add a multi-device widget (as per https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/2294/) and it doesn't work. When I drag the widget to the home screen it gives me the message "You don't have any devices. Add a device to use this widget."

Obviously I DO have some devices and can see and use them in the Kasa app. They are all assigned to a room. But the widget can't see them!

Any ideas?

4*1 is the size of the widget and this Kasa widget is for a single Kasa device that supports color and brightness control, like a smart bulb. As you can see, the control options on this widget example use the color option, which is based on a smart lighting device.

For the smart plug, please use the 3*1 device widget.

Did you click the widget to add kasa devices to it?

@Wayne-TP  there was no option to do this.

When adding a single-device widget, I dragged it onto the home screen and it then gave me a selection list to choose from.

When adding a multi-device widget, this didn't happen. I just got a screen telling me I had no devices, with a "Done" button. I tried tapping on this screen, double tapping, long press, but nothing happened. There was no option to add devices before dragging the widget onto the screen.

What's the model and Android version of your phone?  What's the multi-device widget are you referring to? Please provide a screenshot of it.

@Wayne-TP (thanks for your help, by the way!)

My phone is a Google Pixel 2 running Android 11, unrooted.

Kasa offers me 7 widgets as per the image below. In order - single scene (works ok), single device (works ok), multi-device for a room, multi-device, multi-device with temperature (none of these 3 works). Multi-scene works ok, and I don't have a camera so the last one doesn't work.

After clicking Done on the multi-device widgets, the window closes and nothing is added to the Home screen, not even a blank widget.

@Wayne-TP  I understand now, thanks for explaining. I hoped it was a widget that could give me control over several switches!

Maybe this is a good idea for development - a compact control panel with toggle buttons, so I could quickly switch plugs or devices on/off, or cycle through their settings. This would take up a smaller area of the screen than using several 3 x 1 widgets.
