Model: Tapo C425
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Camera is connecting to the fairest away hub on my Tenda 3 hub meh network. Resulting in very poor WiFi signal strength. Even if I reboot with camera removed from garden location and placed next to hub at rear of house it still connects to porch hub. Is there any way to choose which connection?

Came up with some ideas, you may check if that works.

1. Allocate camera's current IP to another device by assigning a static IP. Then the camera should be able to start a new connection automatically or after a reboot.

2. Consider switching to another mesh node as the main router.

@Johnfleet Hi John, i had a same problem and solve the issue by switching on Deco mesh app temporary from 5Ghz to only 2,5Ghz a changing WPA2 security teporary to WPA/WPA2. After that camera could be connected. I thikn it will work on tp-link app as well.

The wifi signal of the hub is probably not that weak for the camera to lose connection. You may try to turn off the mesh hubs one by one to force the camera to connect to a desire mesh hub.

@Wayne-TP I don't think that I can do this? If I turn off the main hub - which is the one which it's connecting to then surely the other hubs won't have a signal with which to connect? (3 hub system) Main hub in porch at front of house. Two other hubs both at rear of house but for some reason this camera insists on connecting to the main hub. I've even tried rebooting the camera with it physically right next to the desired hub and it still ignored it and connected to the main hub!!!!

You may check with the router support to see if they have any suggestions. Some TP-Link Deco mesh routers support changing the deco node that the client device is connected to.
