Using smart plug mini with lights that are sensor activated

We have a set of sunbeam track lights under our cabinets that can be turned on and off and dimmed by waving my hand over the sensor. When I plugged them into a smart plug mini it shows them being turned on but they don't light unless I wave my hand over the sensor.
i can turn them off by the app/google home.

Does your light have a constant-on mode, or does it only turn on through sensing and automatically turn off after a period of inactivity?
The smart plug only supplies power to the light. If the light itself does not have a constant-on mode, it will operate the same way whether connected to a regular outlet or a smart plug.
