Bitrate Control
Dear TP-Link Development Team,
We would like to request the addition of adjustable bitrate control for all TP-Link smart home cameras. Currently, these cameras are locked to a low bitrate of 100kbps, which applies uniformly across models regardless of the camera sensor's capabilities. This limitation has led to significant dissatisfaction within the community, as it severely restricts video quality, potentially compromising critical details in recorded footage.
Many users are concerned that, at the current forced bitrate, essential details might be lost—especially in situations where clarity could be crucial for safety or security. Enabling bitrate adjustment would allow users to better tailor video quality to their specific environments and needs, ensuring vital details are visible when it matters most.
To prevent any negative impact on TP-Link’s cloud storage service or issues for users with weaker Wi-Fi connections, bitrate control could be set to a lower default with options to adjust it as needed. This approach would give users greater flexibility while maintaining compatibility with TP-Link’s subscription service and ensuring optimal performance across varied network setups.
We believe that bitrate control would be a valuable addition that not only addresses widespread user concerns but also improves the functionality of TP-Link’s camera lineup, making them more competitive in the market.
Thank you for considering this request.
