Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hello everyone,

I know this has been asked so many times but I am trying to setup a separate VLAN just for my 2.4Ghz IoT devices. I currently have a er605, sg-2008p, and eap650 all in standalone mode. When I setup a new subnet on the er605, and assign that vlan id to the 2.4Ghz ssid on the ap, I get nothing. I have setup the vlan (200) on the router with the switch port tagged with the vlan 200 and also untagged with the main (100). The pvid on the router is still set to 100.

On the switch the same is set. Port 4 tagged with vlan 200 and PoE on. Separate vlan 100 for the main ethernet devices and 200 tagged for the ap. When 200 is set as the vlanid on the ap, I get no IP assignment on my phone (as a test).

Even when you change the pvid on the router and get the separate subnet through the switch, setting any vlan number results in no connection. I feel like I am just missing something or this is a limitation of the devices; or separating vlans on the ap like this isn't feasible.

Anyone have any thoughts? I realize a switch in this basic setup isn't necessary but PoE will be utilized for IP cameras in the future. Thank you for any help I appreciate it!

Hi @R33NO

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Use the labels and tags to filter the official guide for your setup.

Or you should check with the official website which it provides the FAQ on the VLAN configuration as well.

Since this involves the switch, you should take a look at the switch page as well on how to configure the port and when to configure them as tagged/untagged.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to get this to work but referencing your diagram. I was missing the extra port tag of the port coming into the switch. So for me, er605 --> tag port 2 with second subnet, pvid 100 and untag the rest. 2008p switch --> tag port 1 and 3. 1 for router incoming and 3 for poe ap outgoing. pvid of 100 in my case. Eap650 --> vlanid of 200 on my 2.4ghz ssid for IoT devices. I am able to connect to my cameras via separate vlan/subnet now. Hopefully this helps others without a controller.

I think the issue here could be that the default VLAN (1) is not applied but you need this (AFIAK) for the communication with the AP. When I see it correctly, all networks have an VLAN id (100 and 200 respectivly) and therefore nothing is untagged?

When you create VLANs on the ER605 there is also exactly this warning in a little info-popup.

Thanks for the reply. I have vlan 1 on as well. If I take anything out of vlan 1 (the router or switch) the entire device cannot be reached. It might have another ip and i just cant find it but i have to reset it entirely again and apply my profile. Are you thinking these ports need to be untagged?
