Hello,

 

My Tapo C200 is set up on my WiFi.

When I arrive home, I'd like to activate the confidential mode. So it is working on the app, but not physically ! At the beginning, I could hear the shutter closing (thus the camera really didn't record) ; now I can't hear it anymore, it is always open. I don't trust it.

 

Moreover, the LED is blinking red, I have the impression when I pass in front of the camerA.

 

Do you have a solution ?

Hi,
The Tapo C200 does not have a physical shutter to cover the lens, usually, when you turn on the privacy mode on the Tapo C200 via the Tapo app, the system LED on the camera will turn off, and when you go to the Tapo app > camera's Live View page, you can see the message that the Privacy Mode is active.

 

The flashing red system LED on the camera Tapo C200 means the camera is connecting to the Wi-Fi, which is abnormal. When you arrive home and enable the privacy mode, please pay attention to the LED status on the camera and go to the camera's live view page to check if the privacy mode is enabled.


If there is an issue, can you send me a picture of the camera's live view page on the Tapo app and a video showing the LED status on the camera?

Hi, I confirm I think there is a physical shutter on the camera because sometimes I'm able to hear a noise about something closing in it, like a shutter, especially when I activate the confidential mode.

It was working initially with no red led blinking.

 

I'll try and tell you.

 

EDIT :

ok I got it, the noise I hear is the switch between day and night mode, not a shutter.

 

However, it still goes to blinking red when I activate the confidential mode. I let you see that in the video I record for you.

Hi,
From the video provided, after the camera enables privacy mode, the system LED is Off. It may be that the camera has a disconnecting Wi-Fi issue, and then the Wi-Fi connection is restored immediately, so the LED flashes red and then turns off.
When the camera turns off privacy mode, does the LED always stay solid green?
When the camera turns on privacy mode, you can ping the camera's IP on a PC/phone on the same network as the camera to check whether the connection is stable.

Yes, solid green as long as the confidential mode is OFF.

When i switch on the confidential mode, the LED is sometimes blinking red, and when I ping the camera on my internet box site, sometimes the answer is fast (5*2ms), sometimes it goes higher (12ms). I don't believe it is always the same ping.

 

Maybe it comes from the internet connection itself?

Hi,
It looks like the camera may be disconnected sometimes after enabling privacy mode, but it recovers immediately, so you will see the flashed red LED sometimes. However, this won't affect your control of the camera in your usage scenario.
