where do i start !

 

Up to yesterday this camera performed flawlessly. and i mean flawlessly. 

Something has now caused the issue im having.

 

Firstly, its saving all to the SD Card. this card has been in the camera from day one and worked flawlessly. Its connected over a robust wifi connection to my tp link router, and ive checked the network and all is fine. signal strength at camera location is high 80% most of the time. Nothing has changed envoirementally or position wise. Im happy the issue is not signal related. 

 

So to the issue. Up to now, if i got a notification i could go to the playback and download section of the app and replay back the footage or download it to my Apple iphone running ios 18.0.1.  My issue is now i cannot play back recorded footage form the internal SD card ! ! !  I get a message that the " Network unstable, please try later " Well the network is not unstable. i suspect this is a generic message that TP link in their wisdom have chosen to dish up to cover many underlying causes. 

Worth noting is i can still playback footage from the SD card IF i connect locally on the LAN....but the issue occurs when im away from my house and out and about. My phone is on 4g network with no issues. and as i say, i was always able to access and playback footage from the SD card when out and about, even when abroad ! 

 

SO can anyone tell me what this common error meessage is? and more importantly how to resolve this. 

 

Few points to note that might help

1. Issues only started early yesterday.

2. I updated the tapo app yesterday to v 3.7.106

3. I updated ios to 18.0.1 ( had no choice as security update from apple) 

4. i had auto update set to on for this camera so did i get a camera update yesterday ? ( auto now set to foo for all my tp link devices ./.   thanks tpl but i will decide in future ) 

5. checked ios settings and mobile data is allowing traffic to the tapo app.

 

worth knowing i have a large amount of tp link hardware in my house and all work very well, but this issue is annoying me. I had thought of taking a cloud sub, but not now till till this is sorted. I hope this is a firmware bug in the app / c320ws and look forward to the solution. 

 

lastly, i can live steream no issue from within my LAN and more importantly for outside the lan, so i can always connect to the camera. So why cant i pick up the footage from the SD card.......since yesterday? ? ? 

 

i have followed the steps here, (tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/3927 ) and reformatted the SD card. also theres only one client in use. issue still there. Has to be firmware / bug?

 is it possible to downgrade the firmware back to 1.1.8 Build 231211 ( which i assume is 11/dec/2023 ) 

i had no issues running this version 

 

TP Link? can we do this? or more importantly can you do this for me?

Hi,
Usually, the "network unstable, please try later" message appears when the network connection is unstable. If you see this message when watching the playback remotely, you can also try:
1) Connect your phone to a different Wi-Fi network and check if the problem remains.
2) Try a different phone if you have one.

 

If the problem remains, please refer to the steps below to collect the app log for further analysis.
1. Reproduce the problem on the Tapo app.
2. Go to Tapo app > Me> Help & Feedback > Camera > Feedback > select your camera, tap Next > type Forum ID 708706+your nickname, check the "Add System Logs" and "Send App Log" > Tap Send Feedback to send us the app logs. 
Please let me know after you send us the logs.

i checked my network again, all is well. I can stream remotely  from this camera as live view ( c320ws  ) as well as format the sd card remotely....so my networks are fine otherwise i would not be able to reach the device. also the rssi is good as well ( -74db) 

 

 

If i connect to the same wifi network as the camera, i can playback. Problem is when im away from the site and need to check playback, i cannot do so. I was always able to do so since the camera was new until few days ago.

no need to try another phone either. i can access a c310 no problem. 

 

 

i have done as you ask and sent the logs. Can you advise on next steps a i need this resolved. again, the issues seem to have shown up in recent days following a tapo app update, and perhaps a camera update as well. Ive no way of knowing the cam update because auto update was turned on. 

 

look forward to your resolution here. 

 

PS

1. is there a way for me to view the logs ? i assume i can do so if i interogate the sd card diagnosis log file? 

2. can you send me by PM, the firmware for C320WS(EU)_V2_1.1.8 Build 231211, so i can downgrade it?

I replaced the SD card in the camera. 

 

when i examine the files on the old SD card,( Kingston Canvas Go plus, U3 / V30 / A2 / 256g ) there are a lot that wont open on the PC.

 

See attached.

 

why is the file name not date and time stamped?  xxxxxxxx should be YYYYMMDD and 000000 should be HHMMSS .

Hi,
1. Generally, it's hard for the user to understand the meaning of the logs. We don't have the downgrade firmware instructions and can't provide the firmware file for downgrade.
The case is followed up by the tech team and they will reply to you via email.

 

2. The SD card will be divided into multiple folders automatically once formatted on the Tapo app, and all of the folders will be named xxxxxxxx_000000_tp00001.mp4, xxxxxxxx_000000_tp00002.mp4, and so on. This folder or clip cannot be played or opened as there is no recording in it. The recorded videos will fill in these folders one by one.
