RTSP breaks on Tapo
Hi,
I'm facing a RTSP stream problem with my tapo C200 camera. On a fresh boot, rtsp stream works flawlessly. However after a while (a few hours?) the rtsp stream ends and reconnecting via any rtsp client results in a 401 Unauthorized. The only way to make it work again is by rebooting; but the problem appears again later.
Please note that client config, credentials, etc. look fine. Otherwise the connection would never success; and it's not the case.

I have to add that I think I upgraded the firmware a few days ago. This issue did not happen with the previous firmware; for sure. Maybe it's a bug on the latest firmware?

Hi,
1. What apps do you use to stream the camera via the RTSP connection? Is the device used to stream the camera in the same network as the camera?
2. Can you stream the camera properly when using the Tapo app?
3. Please try to change the camera account name and password on the Tapo app, and then check if you can stream the camera properly via the RTSP connection.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I'm trying to reproduce the issue again but no luck so far.
Anyway, answering your question:
1. vlc and ffplay
2. yes
3. changed while experiencing the issue but no luck

Hi,
If the problem disappears, you can keep monitoring the RTSP connection. If the problem appears, pay attention to how many devices are accessing the camera's live feed via the Tapo app and RTSP/ONVIF connection.

@mgutierrez It looks like they removed support for RTSP in a recent firmware update. Doesn't sound like it's by mistake either. You can join the outrage on this thread.
