I do like my plugs but probably will return them to Amazon which shouldn't be a problem.

What alternative plugs can we get? Anyone found any from respected brands please?

I believe Meross have some very similar units with a very similar form factor which their recent firmware upgrade that they are pushing out. Provides full power monitoring via matter 1.3 which works well with home assistant etc. 

I have nearly 45 of these TP-Link plugs which I bought on the understanding that there would be a firmware upgrade before the end of last year. Feel completely let down and very annoyed with them. I've decided now that if they don't come out with a firmware upgrade before the end of February then the whole lot's going to go back and I'm getting the Meross ones.

I don't understand the lack of communication. How did we go from "expect the feature by end of 2024" to complete silence and no update? Is this what TP Link is as a company?

  @MoleCamper some times the easiest explanation is the right one.

TP-Link has made their money here, they don't care about extending functionality for an existing device. They'd prefer make new equipment you need to pay for.

Just emailed support again.  I wonder - is this a legal case of deception for mis-selling/false advertising a product ?

I've just returned mine to Amazon, outside of the return window but they didn't care, and even arranged collection tomorrow.

What model Meross are people using instead please? I can get some delivered tomorrow and forget all this nonsense :)

I've bought a 4 pack of Meross MSS315 from Amazon for £40 delivered tomorrow.

Time will tell but for now I have no burning abmission to reconfigure 40+ sockets so i'm waiting (again).
