Tapo P110M update for Matter 1.3
With the new matter 1.3 support being released containing support for energy monitoring devices like the P110M, when will we see the firmware update support for the new matter standard? I assume that it is planned.
The current matter firmware for the P110M doesn't account for the new 1.3 standard. The P110M being advertised as both an energy monitoring device and matter compatible, there's a huge gap here at the moment because without the new matter standard update; the P110M is just a smart relay.

@MarkCarline they do. They responded once at the start of this chain.
however, only once. I have zero faith that they're going to port the firmware, because I suspect they feel they can profit off selling a new device instead.
as soon as an energy monitor comes on sale from tp-link that supports matter, I'll be returning my p110m's claiming deceptive advertising.

Thank you for your feedback. Adapting the product to the new Matter version takes time, and updates will be implemented gradually. Please stay tuned!.......
4 months later it would be nice to confirm that this update is even in the pipeline? Lots of people are ready to ship these products back under false marketing

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CGFPDVHY

I don't know if anyone has already mentioned the Eve Matter Energy Smart Plug?
It's more expensive but seems to have matter 1.3 compatibility.

@LogicLoom quite a bit more expensive..
whilst not WiFi, i'm looking at migrating to Ikea's INSPELNING plug, zigbee power monitoring for less than the tp-link.
considering there has been zero communication here from tp-link, and it's almost 7 months since matter 1.3 spec has been released, probably not going to wait anymore. there's a good thing there's plenty of competition in the space!

The Eve Energy does not support Matter 1.3 yet and it's considered the reference Matter smart plug. It's certified though so the update should come soon. I explained it a few comments before, it uses non-standard attributes and vendor specific support in SmartThings and Home Assistant for energy reporting, like that generic plug someone mentioned.
Matter 1.3 spec was released in May, six months ago. Tapo uses the Realtek Ameba solution for Matter and the branch for the Matter 1.3 SDK was apparently created in September, then they have to add their code, test, certify, etc. Smart home platforms didn't even support it before October.
The expected time between a new spec release and devices implementing it is 6-12 months, so as much as we wanted the feature the same day the spec released, the market just doesn't move that fast, not even in brands specialized in Matter.
