Hi,

I've managed to link my Doorbell to the Google Home and then a Google Nest Hub. However it's a real trial to get it to show up on the unit. The google nest hub refuses to recognise the word 'door bell' despite the door bell being named by me that way to make things easier and only responds to '{room} {camera}' command which is annoying. It also does not turn on when the doorbell is rung which I'm aware is a pre-existing problem as TP-Link has not adequately developed compatibilty with google so that it is a recognised doorbell.

Is there any plans to optimise the Tapo D230 Doorbell with Google Home/Hub so it is recognised as doorbell instead of a camera so that it will automatically show up when the doorbell rings? If there isn't I would like it to and i suspect so would a lot of people.

I also find it very frustrating that although google automations show the Tapo D235 "Doorbell Pressed" as a starter action, it doesn't actually work. Pressing the doorbell doesn't start the automation.

@Aladdin-gharbi thanks for your input.  Yes, I can create the custom action, but it doesn't ever 'fire'.  It's like Google never receives the 'Rings' starter action from the Tapo cloud.

Hi  @Pinto73 .  TPLink support told me that their integration doesn't actually support the Doorbell Ring action in Google Automations.  Yes, you can select it, but it doesn't work. The way I've got round it is to use a basic (cheapest) TPLink smart plug, with an automation in the TPLink app to switch on the plug when the doorbell is pressed, wait 30 seconds, then switch it off again.  Then you can use that smart plug's "turns on" action in a Google home automation, and that starter action is supported properly.  It's not ideal having to use a smart plug just for this, but it works and the smart plugs are cheap.
