I was helping the last poster with his query, but it doesn't help with the requirement to set different different notification sounds to different TAPO devices.

 

So they are reading this. Just not doing anything with it. I've already discouraged two friends from picking up multiple cams from Tapo.

Explained what they could run into. And gave them a recent example. Firmware update notification comes in. Alarm sound goes off at 4a.m..

Because there is still no separate notification channel everything comes in on the same sound. I ended up staying awake for the next 2 hours

  @Tom_J i agree here,  this keeps me from expanding.  I love everything else,  but this is a show stopper for me at 3 cameras, until I can seperate those sounds.

  So... Murphy (our labrador) learnt to associate notification sounds with someone approaching the door (and, being a clever boy, assesses whether or not he should be barking or eagerly awaiting). This has recently resulted in a disappointed doggie when expecting family / lodging friend returning from work. 

Now... Introduced into a recent (perhaps this weekend) android app update (running Android 14 on a Samsung S23U) is the opportunity to set different sounds for the Miscellaneous, Verification and Doorbell categories. For those that don't know, you can see notification categories for a given app by going to the App Info page for a given application. The change appears to be that notification categories are no longer mere on/off toggles...

Now, until the good TP Link folks do the obvious in-app coding by device, does anyone know how Mischievous and Verification are defined?

I don't think anything's changed - that's the same first image that I posted when I started this thread?! 

If I haven't been clear. You can have TAPO notification sounds set different than incoming email or txt etc. But all my TAPO cameras and sensors all have to use the same notification sound (grouped under 'Miscellaneous'). Doorbell is the only one split separately. Being able to have a different sound for a driveway alert than a back garden alert would be very useful. 

Oh dear... I'm an even sillier puppy than Murphy. I knew it was two steps back from the obvious solution (tailor sounds by both service and device) but was so keen to help the previous person (I think i misread the post) ...,having forgotten the whole premise.  I guess this was a well-intentioned thread bump.

I would like to point out that, well lntended or not, a thread bump that expans a year or more, and still has the same issue, should be a consideration that the customer needs this addressed. 

I still have to rely on my ring  and wyse cameras in my back yard to warn me Of unwanted activity.  

Tapo should think that as a business owner. they shouldn't rely on their competitors System, to make their system Work.  

And that is exactly what all of us have  to do. 

A different sound for each tapo camera would let me out of those other catracts and stay with just TAPO.

Tapo cameras are superior in quality to those others but fall so short on the notificatoins that they are not worth having as an only source of camera.

I would buy more tapo camers, and get rid of my other ones, if they just did this notification fix

I suspect that finer grained categorisation would be a fairly simple and much desired feature to implement and yet...
