Tapo C520WS sound quality
The sound quality on my c52ows is very poor , its quiet ,muffeld and intermittent, i can't even hear a car passing by.
In comparison i can easily hear people talking in street on my igeek camera.
Adjusting the mic gain doesn't help at all.
This seems to be an issue with these with many people complaining about the problem, is it a hardware or software problem?

Hi,
In this situation, please help provide the following video for further analysis.
1. On the Tapo app>camera's Live View page, set the camera's microphone value to the highest one.
On the Device Settings>Storage & Recording page, enable the Record Sound option.
2. Play a video with a loud volume on a phone/tablet and put it in the location where you place your baby usually. Go to another room with your other phone installed with the Tapo app, and check if you can hear the sound from the video on the camera's Live View page.
Please record manually on the camera's Live View page and send it to me.
3. You can also try to pan and tilt the camera when you record the video and send it to me.
Best Regards

I have the same problem. When i look on live view or recorded video the sound is very poor. You can't understand what people talk. It's probably low bitrate that should decrease bandwith. Let's look on the audio stream of the 31 sec video:
Format : AAC LC
Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec Low Complexity
Codec ID : mp4a-40-2
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 32.0 kb/s
Channel(s) : 1 channel
Channel layout : M
Sampling rate : 8 000 Hz
Frame rate : 7.812 FPS (1024 SPF)
Compression mode : Lossy
Stream size : 121 KiB (1%)
Please add some setting to choose audio quality.
Model: C520WS HW version 1.0, Firmware: 1.2.6, Build: 231130

with this quality:
Bit rate : 32.0 kb/s
Sampling rate: 8 000 Hz
will be sound always bad. We need higher sample & bit rate. Maybe they want probably save some bandwidth on servers so they keep it low as possible.

Prosze o pomoc.

"Yes, I hear any noise or music. Adjusting the mic gain doesn't help at all. - its set on maximum. I hear only the noise from camera motor when I change the position of camera only UP/DOWN PTZ button (changing position in left, right PTZ - NO noise)"
Hi, I'm confused if you can hear the sound when someone plays music in front of the camera since you say you can hear the music but then you say you can hear noise from the camera motor only.
If you can't hear any sounds on the camera's Live View page even if someone is talking to the camera loudly, it may be the camera's microphone has an issue, and you can contact your retailer or local support to check if your camera is under warranty.

Hi All,
The reported audio issue is solved on the Tapo C520WS V1 with the official firmware 1.2.7 Build 240306 Rel.68340n. You can update the firmware on the Tapo app for a try if your firmware is not the latest one.
If you have any new issues with the new firmware, it's recommended to start a new thread to report it with the following information for further analysis.
1. The hardware and firmware of the camera.
2. The detailed problem phenomenon.
3. It would be appreciated if you could provide a video showing the problem.
