@PixelWave While you're at it, please expose the shortcuts to SmartThings as well!

It would be quite useful to enable/disable privacy mode in cameras and other actions not usually exposed to assistants / platforms.
There are workarounds using SmartThings virtual devices + Alexa (which supports shortcuts) but depending on so many clouds is overkill.

We are excited to announce that Tapo devices now support the ability to trigger shortcuts through Google Home/Assistant! 🎉 This update allows you to seamlessly integrate your customized Tapo shortcuts with Google Home, offering more convenience and control.
With this feature, you can now ask Google to activate your personalized routines and shortcuts without lifting a finger. Simply create your shortcuts in the Tapo app, and they’ll be ready to go with a voice command (e.g., Activate [SCENE_NAME]) via Google Assistant.
Start creating your automations and take your smart home experience to the next level!

@PixelWave Tremendous! This is great news. When will the feature be active?

@AlexNYC Thank you! The feature is already live! Just say, "sync my devices" or relink your Tapo account in Google Home to update your devices. Once synced, you can trigger your shortcuts by saying, "Activate [shortcut_name]". Enjoy the new feature!

Hello everyone,
We’ve identified a potential security risk related to the upcoming feature that allows enabling/disabling Privacy Mode on Tapo cameras through Google Home. Since the feature is determined by Google, it can be triggered by voice commands only. Unlike Alexa, which allows voice commands to be disabled, or Tapo, which has a button for toggling Privacy Mode, the current implementation in Google Home could leave devices vulnerable.
Consider this scenario: a malicious user, like a thief, could shout from outside, “Hey Google, turn on privacy mode for all cameras,” causing all cameras to stop streaming and recording. This could expose households to security threats.
Given this concern, we’d like to ask the community: How do other brands handle similar privacy and security issues? Do they implement additional user verification methods?
We won’t be releasing this feature just yet—we’ll be conducting a thorough investigation to ensure the highest level of security before moving forward.
We value your input and suggestions!
