Tapo Synology connection problem
Tapo Synology connection problem
Hello
I can not add my Tapo 320ws cameras to my Synology NAS surveillance station...
I have a TP Link ER605, DHCP settings with 192.168.0.xxx, the Synology is connnected to this Router with 2 LAN cables.
the WiFi Router is also connected to this Router (AX6600) the WiFi is DHCP with 192.168.1.xx
the cameras got the IP 192.168.1.236 and 192.168.1.179
when I try to add them under My Synology, the sytem finds the following only
If I add them manually, it does not accept the username / password - I added the acount under advanced settings under each camera.
Why can I Not add the cameras? why does the Synology find only one camera with a wrong IP?

Hi,
It seems your Synology and the Tapo C320WS cameras are not under the same network thus Synology can't add the camera successfully.
Please check if your network diagram is the Internet--ER605--Synology & AX6600 Wi-Fi router)))Tapo C320WS.
If so, since the AX6600 Wi-Fi router has the NAT feature to protect the internal network, you need to open the port (ONVIF Service Port: 2020, RTSP Service Port: 554) on the Wi-Fi router for the Tapo C320WS if you want to access the camera remotely.
If you want to put the Synology and the Tapo C320WS cameras under the same network, you can set the AX6600 Wi-Fi router to work in the AP mode.
How many Tapo C320WS do you have? Can you share the MAC addresses of the Tapo C320WS and the AX6600 Wi-Fi router with us via private message?
And please check if the 192.168.0.100 is your AX6600 Wi-Fi router's WAN IP address.
Best Regards

very sorry for my late reply, I had an unforeseen trip to Europe... came back and am busy
here are the 3 camera settings pictures, I don't want to set my WIFI Router to AP Mode... but still not sure how I can configure the port forwarding...
I can check my cameras, also from outside the home, but can not add them because as you can see in my previous post, the Synology finds one camera, but wrong IP... I guess because as you explained, there are on a different network segment... both the router and wifi router are on DHCP setting.
I was very glad that you replied, and I want to fix this as soon as possible, so the Synology starts to record when there are alarms..
but on Sunday I have to leave to europe again with customer for 2 weeks... thank you for your help!!!

Hi,
1. You can refer to the link below to open the port on your AX6600 Wi-Fi router, here I use our Wi-Fi router as an example.
Port forwarding: how to set up virtual server on TP-Link wireless router?
Note:
1) When adding virtual server entry/port forward entry, the internal port for the camera is 2020(for ONVIF stream), and please set different external ports for each camera to distinguish.
2) When accessing the camera outside the Wi-Fi router network, you can use the WAN IP of the router:external port number.
2. The below instructions may help you to set up the ONVIF stream.

@Solla-topee Hello
thanks a lot for your reply, that looks a little difficult, I will try after I am back from my Trip to Europe (2weeks), and report back after I tried it.
WIFI, DHCP setting, but set a fixed IP to eack of the 3 cameras, and each with another port? that point is not clear, so here I don't set 2020 but each another port?if so, like which number?
sorry, but about ports I am unfamiliar... so I don't understand this and where to set internal port and external port - this is all on the WiFi Router..?
thank you a lot and best regards, Dominik

Hi,
You can refer to one of the Cases in the link below to know the internal port and external port, there are the parameters that need to be entered when adding the virtual server/port forwarding entry.
Port forwarding: how to set up virtual server on TP-Link wireless router?
For your Tapo Camera, the internal port(port for ONVIF stream) is 2020, and you can set the external port between 1-65535, for example, use ports 900, 901, and 902 as the external port for your three cameras.
If you do not want to set the Wi-Fi router to use the AP mode, you can try to connect the Synology NAS to the Wi-Fi router rather than the ER605 router, then add the camera to the Synology NAS will be easier without open ports on the Wi-Fi router.

Hello, I set up my Router like this under Nat forwarding / port forwarding
Service Name | Device IP Address | External Port | Internal Port | Protocol | Status | Modify |

902 |
2020 |

HTTP |
192.168.1.211 |
900 |
2020 |

and under DHCP Server
Device Name | MAC Address | Reserved IP Address | Status | Modify |
---|
network device |
78-8C-B5-26-A5-92 |
192.168.1.191 |

192.168.1.211 |

Gardenleftside |

192.168.1.207 |
Is that correct?
I could add 2 cameras (for the third one I need to buy a license), the adding was ok, but then it says for both cameras disconnected, any ideas what is wrong?
thank you and best regards, Dominik

some other information, like the infos I just sent before, I can add 2 cameras manually under surveillance station, at the end when I have to authenticate it gives a green check mark, means it is ok, then the next step it says activate, but after a while it will be "disconnected"...

Hi,
Please connect a PC to the Wi-Fi router that the Tapo Camera connects to, and then refer to the link below to watch the camera via ONVIF stream using the iSpy program on your PC. This process is to verify the camera settings and the ONVIF stream of the camera are working.

@Solla-topee I connected my pc and can see the live stream. but I connected to the WiFi, so I am on the same network segment as the cameras...
I guess there is still some "routing" wrong from the Synology Nas - TP Link Router ER605 - TP Link WiFi Router AX90
I did the Port settings as previously replied...
