Surprised to learn this hasn’t been implemented. Such a huge miss.

Spotlight should come on automatically especially when doorbell is hardwired.

Hi

I would like to back up those who have requested that all Tapo cameras should be upgraded to allow their leds to be triggered by motion/people/whatever regardless of the time of day or ambient lighting conditions.

Surely Tapo managment must understand that nobody wants to record a video of a break-in.  Part of the function of a proper security camera (as opposed to a toy) is to act as a deterrent, not just to be there to record a malicious act in full living colour.

In my view, unless and until all Tapo security cameras are equipped with this rather minor upgrade, these cameras do not meet the requirements of a serious security device.

It's sad this still has not been added. From day 1 of owning multiple 320WS AND 520WS devices, this was shocking to realize this is not a feature. I've seen so many people request this, even myself making multiple threads. Not sure what it's gonna take to have it done

Hi,
It's suggested to start a new thread here to post your problem and usage scenario in detail for further assistance.
Best Regards

Hi, why is another thread needed for this?  This one is over a year old, 4 pages into it, and TP Link/Tapo seems to have ignored the countless requests for this feature.

The "problem and usage scenario" haven't changed.   Add a setting to the spotlight where it turns on when it detects motion regardless of the time of day or ambient light level.

Ideally, it would be even better if we could set a schedule for hours during which the spotlight will turn on when it detects motion regardless of ambient light level.

Hi, I just picked up some Tapo cam with spotlights and after looking in all the settings finally found the spotlight setting.

It's listed under white lights, under the nightvision, in the video and display settings.

There an option to have them on with motion, on full time or off.

I hope this helps if you haven't already figured it out.

Unfortunately that setting has always been there and doesn't solve the problem.  The problem is that if there is any ambient light near the camera, the spotlights won't turn on.  As I mentioned earlier, this is a problem in my garage and in my backyard.

There needs to be a setting where the spotlights turn on whenever it detects motion whether there is ambient light or not.

This is correct, the issue is ambient light being present and the camera not entering night mode to take advantage of these spotlight modes.
